Good Morning Joe- Wolfe Ridge definitely makes great products. Most people typically operate the splitter on the opposite side of the log lift.

I would suspect that is the way but seems when you are working alone you would stay on the side of the lift
@WoodysRTBFirewood6 ай бұрын
If you were to load the log lift with a bunch of rounds and raise it to a horizontal position then work from the opposite side. That’s the most efficient way to run it. Cheers Mark

Wolf Ridge makes a quality machine!! Thanks for showing us this one. When I run a horizontal machine with log lift I like to walk around the machine to operate the controls. It may take time but you avoid the trip hazard of the lift table, and hot engine/exhaust. If your running it all day just something to think about!

@srg65323 ай бұрын
Good showing of difficult pieces to split. Most companies show the easiest stuff to split. Parts edited away that made me question if the splitter was doing a clean split or had to physically struggle with pulling the pieces apart at the end of the push. Any physical makes splitting more tiring at the end of the day, especially as I'm 64 and want to keep burning wood. I had to modify my splitter with a taller set-back blade added on top of my blade and flare the sides more to get the wood pulled apart. I no longer am tired from running pieces through several times or pulling them apart at the end of the push. These are a very big deal to me. The forward design of the blade made it appear that it may be good at doing a clean split, but I was left unsure. If using the log lift, I'd split all my small stuff first and then step off of the lift and split the bigger stuff last. It would definitely save the back, since wouldn't be leaning so far.

However, I couldn't link in to North American prices to compare it to the Eastonmade Ultra, which I know doesn't have a log lift. That's a very nice machine! I'd suspect you're correct when you say it might be easier/quicker in big ugly stuff to just run the single vertical knife and use the fast cycle time of the cylinder to break them down to the required size. It'd be worthwhile I think for you to bear in mind the future splitting (with the Eastonmade or whatever) when you're cutting off the ugly butts of the logs to make them suitable for the Japa. Cut them at the length that's convenient for the splitter, even if that means taking two bites. It'd be much easier to do it then rather than wrestling with a big awkward piece that won't fit the splitter, and likely won't easily fit the burner either.
@ohiowoodburner6 ай бұрын

@@ohiowoodburner I've honestly been contemplating selling my eastonmade ultra to get one of these, so I'm looking forward to seeing more videos of it! I've had a lot of issues with my ultra and it's been frustrating. Eastonmade has been really responsive and awesome about it though, but I definitely think I need a log lift to be more efficient
@jakebredthauer510029 күн бұрын
For a splitter to be ergonomic it needs the control levers in the center, as this one is. The levers are up where they will not be hit by a log. If the levers are on one side the wood maybe moving the wrong direction.

I think if the table is the same plane as the trough and wedge it will make splitting easier. I figure simplicity is better for something like this. This is how the Ultra and kinetics are and it makes a difference for someone like me who does fast resplits. Your super split was like that. Personally for my operation I would get it without the lift as it gets in the way. These kinetics and ultra are simple and very fast and figured this was a competitor of those. To me this would be perfect if you can get the RS-22 with the RS-17 cylinder to be faster, had the sorting table same plane like I said, to slide splits instead of picking up and with auto cycle option.
