I'm also not a fan of space games, but I backed Last Light because Roy is a good dude and I believe in what he's doing. Happy to hear all the positive things about it. I'm actually excited to play it! And BIRDS OF A FEATHER! I HAVE TO FIND A COPY!

Autobahn looks very interesting and I have pondered backing it. Wayfarers is the game I'm looking forward to most currently (probably wasn't on KS when video was filmed) and the blinged Castles of Burgundy later this year. This was a fun selection !

Maggie, I'm with you on Sleeping Gods Distant Skies. It's a 10 out of 10 for me as well. I've backed several Kickstarter and Gamefound campaigns already this year, but Distant Skies is the biggest game of the year for me.

Another amazing week of great information, you're just top notch, seriously... With some more B-roll and an extended list of games you'd compete with the tops on the net with this category, for me anyway! I am always really very interested when both of you are 8 or higher for the same game, and how many of your top 10 are 6s (how deep the 6s go...)....thanks you two!

Escaped a Back Chat with only backing one new game - For Northwood!! It's so cute and as Black Sonata is one of my favourite solo games, I know that this will be a fit for me. Plus you can try it out on the computer. It's not as fun/easy as it will be in real, but gives you a great feel for the game. If you look at the rules on the Gamefound page, at the end of the rules is a link to try the game out. So Amy, you can try it out without having to convince Maggie to back it. 😄

I love the nuanced perspectives that you are able to bring to these games. For someone with limited funds that's very important to my decision making process.

This week has been incredible for my excitement in games but I am resisting backing and going to get the ones I really want at retail. Especially the new Sleeping Gods!
@StephenGrubb2 жыл бұрын
Wow! This was a meaty (and expensive) episode! Maggie, you've convinced me on Sleeping Gods. Amy, you've convinced me on Last Light. And both of you have convinced me on Birds of a Feather--which I wouldn't have even considered at first glance. By the way, I recently purchased Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza and it is an absolute winner (sorry Maggie). :)

Hope this week is going better for you two! Not much excitement here, although I am excited for my top game this past fortnight :D 10. Fortress of Terror - Backing So I don't normally have an interest in solo games, but as a roll-and-write adventure system, it might be something I'd get into. And it's only $5, so it's hard to resist. 9. For Northwood - Backing Here's another solo game which really intrigues me because I'm a big fan of trick-taking games. I suspect it's the better game than Fortress of Terror which is why it ranks higher, but Fortress of Terror might be easier to get into as a roll-and-write. Hmm.... 8. Broken and Beautiful: A Game About Kintsugi - Likely Passing This game looks like a small step up from Sushi Go, and I do really enjoy drafting as a mechanism. I'm on the fence with this one as I don't think I'd get it to the table with either of my game groups. Definitely glad it's funded. Maybe I'll pick it up at my FLGS in the future. 7. The Dark Quarter - Passing I like the idea of these types of narrative games, but I still haven't gotten Destinies to the table yet. Maybe I can convince one of my game groups to give it a try in the not-to-distant future. Moreover, I'm not actually interested in this more mature theme that I would play with a game group. I can definitely wait for retail on this one. 6. The Great Wall Reprint - Passing I'm less inclined to back an Awaken Realms game these days. Their games just seem like they need a good developer remove some bloat and streamline gameplay. Despite these issues and another terrible rule book, the game has been getting good buzz. The minis are beautiful, so I'm slightly tempted to back this one, but I'll just wait for retail. 5. Glitch Squad - ? I'm currently backing this one in the hopes it gets funded. I do enjoy these types of word games, and I think this one would really work with one of my game groups. I just wish Resonym would add some incentive to back their kickstarter projects. It's always a better deal just to wait for retail. Ah well. 4. Birds of a Feather: Western North America - Backing I had glossed over this one when I saw it mentioned in Alex's and/or Adam's videos. I already have a bird-themed game that I really like, and the reviews for the original game on bgg were somewhat underwhelming. But you two have swung me around to becoming a backer! Terrible :P 3. Stellar Expedition - Backing As a sci-fi nerd and a fan of Star Trek, this one was a no-brainer. Unfortunately, the project is struggling to fund, so it might not see the light of day. I wonder if, thematically, it would've been better as a co-op game. Granted, that would've led to a much different game. And maybe Unsettled is covering that territory. It's about halfway funded, so there's still time for it to cross the finish line. Hope it makes it! 2. Sleeping Gods: Distant Skies - Backing I'm a big fan of Ryan Laukat's games. BUT I have yet to get my kickstarter copy of Sleeping Gods to the table! Ahhhhhh.... It really doesn't make sense for me to be backing the stand-alone sequel, but that's not going to stop me! This is a world I want to dive into (unlike The Dark Quarter). 1. Last Light - Backing I'm really excited for this game! I got to give it a try twice now with Roy over TTS. It was a lot of fun both times, and I'm normally averse to this much player interaction in games. But I just had fun. I loved playing Master of Orion 2 on the PC way back in the day, and I get some of those feels with this game. Can't wait to get this game in my hands and play it with a couple of friends who are also big MOO2 fans. I really, really hope Gray Fox Games handles the production well! So I'm a bit over my quota this fortnight, but I didn't back anything last fortnight, and I've culled 6 games so far this month with enough in value to cover my backs so far. I think I'm doing ok :D Take care and see you next time! :)

Busy week! I was starting to worry you hadn't found anything to back in the first half there. For me, Birds of a Feather was a quick back and I've also backed the 10th anniversary campaign for Morels. I am tempted by Last Light but haven't quite talked myself into it. I need to take a look at For Northwood. This was a new one for me.

Awesome back chat! I'll be on the lookout for the news about the collaboration. I like your Kangaroo Mail idea. That's exactly how I imagined living in Australia, avoiding upsetting the mailman, lest you get punched. Our squirrels here are fast, but too unreliable. Have a great week!

Ok Ok...you finally sold me on Birds of a Feather! 😆 It actually looks really fun and I love the fast play and large number of players. It's so hard to find good games to play with the (non-gamer) neighbors when there's more than 4 of us... this one will be perfect! Backed!

Omigoodness, we play-tested what's become "Castles by the Sea".... three years ago? It was already quite fun at that point. But .... was never sure it would come out. And now, as you described it... "hmmm, how many games could there BE stacking cubes on a beach??" 🤓

I am proud of myself for not backing a single game these past 2 weeks 😁 Wow, you are backing Last Light even though it's a space game?! It sounds interesting but deluxe with expansion, shipping and VAT is quite expensive.
@JJ_TheGreat2 жыл бұрын
I am very much into The Paradox Initiative! I will probably be backing it! But where is the 10th Anniversary of Morels? Rahdo's video shows that that is an amazing 2-player game. And there is also the 5th Anniversary of Agility with that campaign. I looked into the gameplay (Rahdo's video) - and even though I have no affinity toward the theme (I have no dogs), the gameplay looks solid - so I am backing both Morels (with the Foray expansion - and both come with one booster pack, so I will get 2 of them - and I also added on the limited handcrafted pieces - sticks and pans) and Agility, in addition to The Paradox Initiative. I do not know which pledge level I will pledge the Paradox game at yet, but it will be at least the Deluxe Edition pledge level. Honestly, I have no interest in Last Light... Probably because everyone is into it right now, so I am against it just to spite everyone (which was kind of like my impression of Terraforming Mars - I always felt it was overrated)... I am just saying 😉

You mean 'Roo-post' is not a thing?!! Thanks for the video, you summed up my thoughts on Paradox so well, gutted that I'm not more into the gameplay! I'm interested by Sleeping Gods distant skies but I'm not sure the time I have for gaming would get the best from it. Last Light though - yes! I'm in!
@craiggruesome64002 жыл бұрын
I almost got the first Lawyer Up, but then digging deeper, it seemed like the consensus was that the interesting theme got ignored as you played more. I still want to try it someday. For the sake of budget, I am excited to play Last Light, but I think I'll wait for a con. But darn it, you're really selling me on Sleeping God, Maggie.

Great episode again. Paradox Initiative and Last Light stood out for me, not least because of theme (space _and_ time!) But not quite so sure about either. PI does look a bit fiddly (and I backed Tamashii which already seems to do the grid manipulation thing), and I'm not sure any of my groups will be into the area control of LL. Still, I'm on the lookout for games that take many people (so maybe I should get Birds of a Feather, and pretend they are Space/Time birds!) Sleeping Gods looks great, but we already have a couple of big campaign games we should finish (or even start) first... Given I backed Mercurial recently, my backing drought is broken, for better or worse.
@benjamindebetencourt15262 жыл бұрын
Birds of a feather looks great but I'll probably wait for retail! Autobahn indeed looks like very euro-y and crunchy but I just cannot go pass the theme. You don't mind Maggie that it is so dry ? I really cannot see myself inviting friends over and being like we are going to play a game about building highways in Germany 😅 thanks for the great video !

I wanted to love the first sleeping gods and though it was fairly fun, the reset mechanic ruined it for me, it should have put you at a random place but putting you at the same start point it just becomes groundhog day re-treading what you just did trying to remember what path you went through and do it quicker which didn't do it for me.

At least Don't Let It Die actually has some dark-skinned characters unlike Paleo. The representation in Paleo is dismal and not even historically accurate.
