Thanks for these videos. I am visiting Dexter Michigan from Georgia and these videos have been very helpful in deciding what to ride. Thanks!

That downhill section was amazing. Too bad the other riders were stopped in the middle of it. Nice trail.

🧩 The trails have only gotten better since this video was posted. I also suspect people are more knowledgeable about trail etiquette these days as well. These trails were built at the start of the most recent mtb boom, so there were many people that were previously unfamiliar with the sport getting into it. 🧩

That tree on the right side of the trail at 10:35 is where my handlebars tagged the tree, my pedal struck the tree and I OTB'd. Bruised my ribs and sprained my wrist. Great trail though. Can't wait to get back out there.

Came here to watch how you went through the rock gardens at the end! I'm new mtb and I'm not very confident over the rocks. I went out there today and did big kame twice, the same direction as this video and it got real sketch on the rocks lol thanks for the video, I'll keep practicing
@dukeofmtb3 жыл бұрын
Going down slick rocks, try not to drag your brakes too hard on them, you'll end up skidding uncontrollably. Stand up and let the bike move under you, and then plow through them with a little momentum. Be selective about where you brake if you need to dump some speed. You'll get it with a little practice. Good luck.

Great video!!! Ive only conquered the easy loop so far at DTE. U think an XC race bike can handle Big Kame? ☠️
@dukeofmtb Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I've seen some people hit it with a gravel bike, so an XC bike can definitely handle it. There are a couple chunky downhill sections that you might have to go slow on, but that's all. 😁👍

@@dukeofmtb Hell yeah, my buddy & I crushed Kame Sunday in clockwise direction. An absolute RIOT. Looking forward to Winn & Sugar, the sooner the better. So far, DTE is phenomenal! ☠️👍 I talked to two dudes riding rigid single speed bikes coming off of Kame & I was like...... we got this! 🏆

@James Courier Sweet! Glad you guys had fun. You should try Stony Creek too. Roller Coaster, Back Nine, and The Pines are pretty fun. Not as much elevation, but the jumps on Back Nine and The Pines are excellent. 🤘😁

getting my first bike soon cant wait to hit these local trails - there seems to be a good amount of good trails in SE Michigan. Thanks for the video. That trail looks freakin beautiful with the leaves changing color, its too bad I wont have my bike for another month or so. And the trail is pronounced just like "came". A Kame is an actual glacial formation which I guess is what the trail is named after. Most of the trails here actually seem to be on the glacial moraines deposited 10,000 yrs ago which makes sense because its the only elevation we get in the region
@dukeofmtb6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for those kind words. I'm so glad you noticed the color of the leaves and such. I spent a lot of time tweaking the colors in the video to capture what I saw with my own eyes and I wanted the viewers to really see the beauty of the fall colors on the trail. Me and the wife just started mountain biking the spring of 2017. We've been hooked ever since. It's too bad winter is coming. You don't have much time left in the season to shred that bike. You'll be amazed by how much you'll progress in just one year. We started on Walmart bikes, and it just snowballed from there. I hope you consider subscribing. I'm going to keep making videos of the trails here in Michigan as I go. There doesn't seem to be many videos that capture the feel of the trails here in Michigan, so I'm trying to fill that space. Here's one I just uploaded from our our ride at the Holly-Holdridge Mountain Bike Trail: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmeso5mjpqmCf80 You can thank my wife for the idea. She was sick of POV footage. See you on the trails, or maybe you'll see me. :-)
@Katabatic446 жыл бұрын
haha I was just looking at footage of that Holly-Holdridge trail earlier this afternoon - you probably hadn't even uploaded your video of it yet. Ill go watch it now! I was also looking for footage of Stony Creek and you've got a video covering that too - great :D I'll definitely subscribe, your camera work is awesome. And yeah it is unfortunate that i'll miss this fall season for the most part, especially considering fall is my favorite season! Thats ok its something to look forward to next year. I noticed you had some videos in Blue Mountain Ontario too - thats definitely on my list of places to ride at some point. Im actually originally from Ontario and the only reason I wanted to get a mountain bike is because a whole new trail system got put up really close to my cottage up north near parry sound, thought it would be fun to try. I rented a bike from a LBS up there last year and had a blast, gonna bring my own bike next summer. Its pretty much the only trail system in the area and its literally right beside my cottage - very convenient. Currently living in southeast Michigan though, so thanks for your vids!

I'm just glad my videos are doing what I intended them to. I remember spending hours looking for good footage of the local trails when we first started mtb'ing - kind of like the video equivalent of a book summary - just so I can get an idea of what the trail is like. Alas, most videos were of the whole trail, beginning to end, straight from the camera. My wife was the one that insisted I get a gopro. And not being one to settle on raw footage, I put an edit together. And I haven't stopped making them since.

As far as I know, they are still not allowed on the trails. I've heard rumors that it's going to change soon if it hasn't already.

@@dukeofmtb Dang thats a shame, this looks like a great park for MI! The E helps conserve your energy exhausted from these types of heartpumping climbs. When I was out west my knee injury started forcing me into the EMTB world. Well If the rules change by next ride season and you're not too anti emtb, youre more than welcome to give my frame a test ride out here. I'm riding a Spesh Turbo Levo Comp 29er currently.
