I started playing this game last weekend (on easy mode, because am pleb) and didnt know how weak incendiary ammo was. Had an auto cannon charge into an enemy sub and auto fire at a deep one. he took all three hits, was surrounded in hellish fire, and spun around and one shot my guy. I was livid.

BurningFyre​​ Eh. You are using incendiary stuff with an autocannon, literally the weakest cannon combo for damage per shot. Literally change any part of the load out and he would have died without a chance. I bet he had like 5 hp left by the time he killed you

when i played this game as a kid, i don't think i ever used anything but autoshot if i had the TU for it... i think most of my hits was actually a miss, but the "missed" shot happened to collide with the aliens. i kind of had the nobunaga aproach to shooting. one guy found the enemy, everyone else was by the skyranger in a long fireline and autofired from across the map:P

gauss rifles = shit sonic pistols = good, 10 times better than gauss rifles sonic rifles = good, but ammo :( sonc cannon = sniper weapon also the accuracy mod ben installed just changes the percent chance base on distance, it makes the game harder, and does not show you the real percent chance.

minilymo what you pick,auto has a harsher distance penalty than aimed. also it will never raise accuracy if you get closer. in the original game auto was always what you should have picked, this gives you a reason for picking snapped or auto

People have often made the case to just skip gauss entirely and go straight for sonic pistols. You WILL be fighting the first terror mission with gas weapons instead of at least gauss pistols, but after that you are set. It doesn't help that you can get lobstermen in frigging March if you are doing well.

So I've been interested in the XCOM series, but never could figure out what game to start with. Should it be Enemy Unknown, or should I go all the way back the first few? (P.S. I've grown up on old hardcore games such as both System Shocks, and am getting into hardcore modern turn based games such as Invisible Inc; so I am aware that most of these games involve many frustrating deaths. ;) )

I think Ben messed up installing that mod that makes it harder for him to hit the aliens that are further away because from what I can tell the aliens are getting the normal percentiles so it's much easier for them to hit, therefore making the super hard mode even harder.
