Racer X Garage Episode 198: WE DID IT! With a goal of having "Nopar" back on the road for the end of the year, we pulled out all the stops over the Holiday and took to the streets on New Years Eve (2023)! We're so glad the motor was not hurt and the ol' truck is back ready to pound some pavement after being down for a little over a year! Can't wait to get this thing to the track.
We also installed the @MotionRaceworksOfficial 48in throttle cable and bracket.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Just spent 4hrs binge watching on the Dakota. I've got 3 Although I'm using mopar engines, almost ALL what you've done, I can apply to mine. (But on my '88 I'm going to try a Ranger 8.8 with 4.10 LSD. But it's a few inches shorter to use wider wheels) I noticed that on this video I couldn't see power steering. I like the alternator up, is that a custom bracket? I"m just Southeast of Memphis. What city are you in?

Happy New Year to you as well! Thanks for checking out the Channel! Good luck on your builds, they're great little trucks. For what it is worth, the Explorer 8.8 is about 4 inches shorter than the stock Dakota 8.25. This motor runs factory LS truck accessory drive, the power steering is underneath the alternator actually, so its a bit hard to see. I reside in the greater Houston area! Awesome to see it back on the road! I had quite a bit of bounce with mine after the suspension was done. Took about ~500 miles to get it all to settle right and adjusted. Plus front dropped about an extra 1/2" Those Vikings you have plenty of adjustability. I could even tell adding around 5lbs of air in the tires helped firm the ride and gave it less "bounce"

Good to know! It does seem to be getting better each time I drive it, I think majority of it is coming from the rear, and some of that has improved already when I made the adjustments I talked about. I'll have to add some pressure to it, I know right now the rear is only at 20 or 25 lbs

This is a Holley 6 inch pro dash. Reverison Raceworks makes a bolt in cluster mount for it that is super nice!

What size rims are you running front and rear? 15x10? 15x8?

Rears are 15x8 with 5 inch offset, the fronts are 15x4's

Oh the ol' "don't put a Chevy in a Mopar" feelings that diehard Mopar purists have. IMO, you can't make these trucks any better for the buck, and I definitely have zero regrets. I'll have to go look for the tire size, I'll get back to ya on that! Thanks!
