Күн бұрын

It's been a long time since I've skated the Tobacco trail with big wheels, but I didn't want to miss a weekend and I didn't feel up to aggressive. So I hit the trail this morning to see how I managed.

I bought some FE f110h’s in red/black. I absolutely love them! I can definitely get some great speed going and hold it. Need to work on slowing down/stopping techniques. Lol. I’m going to hit a rail to trail soon.

I know you're primarily an aggressive guy, but I really enjoy seeing when you do big wheel / distance stuff. I'm too chicken and not a good enough skater for aggressive -- I can't really even do intermediate stuff like crossovers or even bunny hops, but I love distance skating for exercise. That trail looks like it would be great fun. Would be interesting to hear your take on the Flying Eagle F7s compared to your old Powerslide Swells or Imperials, specifically regarding the distance stuff. I got "back to blading" myself about a year and a half ago after a 15+ year hiatus. I used my OLD Rollerblades (4x 78mm wheels on plastic frames) at first but upgraded to PS Swell 3x 110s. Now that I'm in better shape I do 10km (6.2 miles) in 30-35 minutes, 2-3 times per week. Occasionally do a longer 15 or 20km session. I do prefer the Swells and bigger wheels, but actually I can wear the old Rollerblades and do the same 10km in the same ballpark elapsed time, so I'd wager that you getting more winded is just down to not having done the distance for a while rather than equipment.

Thanks! I get obsessed with aggressive sometimes but plan to do more big wheels now. I’m gonna stick to the FE until I kill the wheels, also testing durability for Compass. After than I’ll do the Swell 3x125 again though. Your times are a great inspiration!

@@BacktoBlading I'm interested in your 110mm Compass wheels, will have to look into how I might be able to get some to Thailand whenever I need a new set. But, according to my phone tracking app, I've done 1,500+km (nearly 1000 miles) in the year and a half since I started using the app to track. Some of that would have been on my old Rollerblades, but probably 3/4 on the stock Powerslide wheels -- so they are holding up pretty well so far.

I mainly skate big wheels through my city doing basic aggressive stuff like jumping gaps and over stuff and doing 180s and 360s. I was thinking about getting into aggressive but I cant get over the fear of rails yet. I honestly dont think my balance would be good enough to balance on a rail without busting my ass. Surprisingly enough I've never hit a trail with my big wheels yet it's always been the city streets with alot of cars. Need to go find a nice trail and see how my speed skating actually is over the constant stop and go and weaving through obstacles. Great video tho your way faster on your big wheels then I am lol.

There are some great smartphone apps for tracking distance/time/calories/etc. via your GPS. I use Runtastic (which has a setting to change the activity to inline skating), but there are others. Quite nice for me, helps with staying motivated and setting goals of increasing distance, better times, or more total distance per month or whatever. Might be worth checking out in conjunction with getting the skates! :)

Nice vid! Thinking of getting a 3x110 set up like this one for the wife son and I as an all-around rink/city/trail skate, looking forward to the review. If you're ever in Atlanta let me know maybe we could skate the Beltline trail, I'm putting up similar numbers 12.5 miles in an hour on fresh legs.

Cool video! 🙂👍 Weak days exist, like mine today and last week. 🙃 I think your sideways muscles of your legs hadn't been trained recently. Can happen, just go on and NEVER GIVE UP. 👍 Please could you check the alignment of your selfie stick and the 3/8 ir 1/4 " bolt/thread of your 360 camera; after the mini crash were parts of the stick visible. Thanks pal! Greetings from Berlin, Germany

good to see you out on the trail again. been too long. i think your previous best time was around 20 minutes, just under maybe. not sure now. i might be thinking of my own endomondo time for walking to town (usually averages 19.40 mins for 1.8 miles.) you certainly had under 24 mins though. i see at the end of the video you found your previous best on the app. i was right, about 20 mins all the best

What am I missing here? I'm 55 and skate 20-25 miles per outing on 80mm wheels usually 3-4 times a week. I average between 8.5 to 10 mph. I would have bet 110s to be much faster than a 1 or 2 mph.
