Presume the head down and frame against the knee is counter getting elevated, which is the counter to the back step that gets me the most.

the most fun half guard pass for sure

I always learn something new Professor Tom. I’ve been doing this pass where I would just post my hands above his head and then backstep and then when I’m in the reverse 1/2 guard look for the crossface with my R arm. However the way you shoe it is awesome. You secure the crossface before you backstep so it is already set up for you. Incredible. Love it. You’re # 1.

Super helpful, I need all the help I can with countering half guard players. I get locked in there and end up screwing up since I don't really know a solid pass that works for me, I hope this one is the one for me.

Aren’t you able to avoid the Jedi mind trick counter to the back step if you are able to get your knee through prior back stepping?

My go to half guard pass! I’d rather this do this than cut the knee or use your instep for some reason haha

Does he have a potential ankle lock when your foot is still stuck between his legs? White belt here still got a sore ankle from my last roll hh

1 question left. if i have the underhook, would i do the same ? because it seems hard to put on the same pressure on his face. but i dont want to give him the underhook aswell ;)
@TheGrapplingAcademy7 жыл бұрын
I don't like doing this with the underhook. If you have that, use it and flatten him out and pass old fashioned style! Happy rolling (-: Coach Tom Davey

Hello from Russia ) Thanks fir this technik. When i do backstep my left leg, maybe do underhook my right hand? Or this is bad idea?
@TheGrapplingAcademy7 жыл бұрын
Hello! No I only use this technique WITHOUT the underhook. If you get the underhook just use old school pressure passing! I hope to share the mats with you one day in Russia (-: Coach Tom Davey
