A very well done and concise commentary on mounting a wheel Alan. You are the first one I have seen who actually mentions the HSE rrccomendaotion and requirements in the 1988 Abrasive wheels act. Good on you sir! This will surely help anyone who wants to change a wheel on their grinder and does not know what to do.

Thanks for this guide, sould we avoid shims even made out of thin paper or tape?

Hi Poe Yes on grinding wheels with high rpm, I do not include tool grinding stones which run at low speed and sit in water. If the wheel is running out the thickness of paper I don't think you would notice it but you could dress the wheel side to reduce any out of balance.

Hello Enot, thank you for the video. How are grinding wheels that are designed for side grinding designated? I have a sharpening jig that has a special side grinding wheel but will need to find a replacement at some point and the original manufacturer doesn't offer them anymore. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi Bruce. I would try eBay and just search for a grinding wheel to fit a ----- insert the machine name or manufacturer it may come up with a wheel number which you can then use to search again. Regards Alan
