wow thanks so much for this... I have been neglecting the banana and sliver key my whole life... now I see why they are better... But now it feels quite awkward... I know I should use these little buggers, but I wonder how long it will take me to re-learn? Any tips for this?

Just start getting used to them, and eventually the new habit will take over. If you are finding it awkward because it is bumping into your middle finger (particularly on the left hand) you can try bending the ring finger a bit more and pressing the sliver key a little more with the tip of your finger. Other than that little tip it is mostly just a matter of time and practice. Good luck!

The first finger for F# is a good default, but the side key F# is a great one to know about especially if you are switching between F and F#!

I never realized how much the music dictates the fingering of some notes until I started playing again. Especially the pinkys. Slip and slide is a wonderful summer game for kids. Not so great for clarinetists.
