I can't watch it. The documentary was enough because I doubt that anyone trying to portray Amy can do her justice. She was too unique to capture. Plus I always thought of Amy and Blake as a noose around each other's neck. They dragged each other down and Amy just couldn't find her balance in life. Watch Mark Ronson talk about Amy. He did an interview with Howard Stern. When Howard asked him about Amy his face dropped. You could see the weight of what her death really meant through his expressions. I think that Mark is the only person respectfully taking care of her legacy.

I would have to agree. I can't even... I don't think I'm overly harsh in feeling visceral rejection of anyone who tries to mimic the form of someone they will never connect to, or a storyteller who tries to decipher a truth they cannot understand.

I don't why everyone is hating like crazy on this biopic whilst appreciating rocketman and elvis, even though sinilar "issues" came up in all- 1. Actors not looking like the real person 2. Not all key moments being included 3. The actor sometimes singing instead of the real person. Think these are all legit as long as they closely resemble the storyline and personality of the person which they all did. I dont understand also why people think Blake was sugarcoated- he is definitely presented negatively with the manipulation and exploitation of Amy. only thing i can see as the big flaw is the presentation of the dad- Mitch was definitely softened because he helped with the film so we dont get to see how exploitative he really was.

It was a train wreck. Don't even get me started. The writing was garbage, the actress did not remotely do Amy Justice, and the director was ignorant and blatantly stated she didn't care what the people who lived it thought- that if they had any input she wouldn't have done it. It dumped off in a random part of her life and continued as a series of highlighted focus on drugs. The actress should have used lip syncing..she should not have sang..oh while they also switched between Amys voice and the actress..plus a million other faults. They should have left it at Amy.

I don’t know much about Amy’s life, and my main criticism walking out was I still felt like I knew nothing about her by the end. Thanks for watching, and if you haven’t already I hope you consider subscribing for more movie reviews!

I totally agree about the vocals. The movie was about AMY and we should have at least heard Amy’s voice which is like no other!

Unfortunately you're right!! It seems to me like it was made to exonerate Blake and her father, and blame the paparazzi, without any exploration whatsoever of her music, as the director claims ... obviously her music is included but nothing about her writing and creative process !!

It was bad but not as bad as I thought it would be. They were kind of respectful not showing how terrible she actually looked at the height of her drug and alcohol abuse though. I'll give it that. Still, it was very Lifetime-esque and superficial. It didn't do Amy justice at all and really didn't showcase what an impact she had.

As someone with substance use disorder, the glamorization of drinking oneself to death is tired, played out, and does significantly more harm to those struggling with alcoholism, and to those trying to support and love and be in relation to those of us with addictions. Distasteful and derivative of every other garbage depiction of the very real struggle that is substance use disorder. Shameful. My opinions on movies aren't usually so pointed and personal, this one was disrespect to a whole new level. The depiction of her addictions was only one of my egregious choices made in this movie and in it's highly unethical production and "research" EW

It wasn't perfect things were glossed over, timelines weren't accurate. Her mom had 2 scenes . By the end of the movie I felt like Amy lived a lifetime in those 2 hours. I liked the music in it. Amy's story should be told as a series. I still liked it maybe in the future I won't who knows. The writers sucked.

Seen it last week. As a movie fan: Nice movie, but don't ever watch the documentary. As an Amy Winehouse fan: Fuck this movie, stick with the documentary. Being unpartial and objective, my rating would be a 6.1/10 for the movie.

The performances are good but the movie itself is bad. What really makes me mad is that the RT audience side is positive but the critics are negative. Sometimes critics are correct!!

I mean this is a fairly conventional film that I’m sure audiences who didn’t know much about Winehouse could get some enjoyment over. It’s a very small sample size though considering how little money the film has made in the US thus far… Thanks for watching and if you haven’t already I hope you consider subscribing for more!

I had to walk out of the theater last night. I don’t think I stayed past 20 minutes of the movie- and that was AFTER 30 MINUTES of commercials before it ever got started. It was so awful!!!

I feel like the actress was good. That said, I don’t know anything about Amy. She seems to lick her teeth and we see a ton of her tongue. Was that a thing that Amy did? She’s supposed to be a sympathetic character, but the things that happen to her happen to almost everyone. (Grandma dies, a relationship goes bad).
