Longest project build ever? Probably not, but fans of the Sherpa build have been waiting patiently for an update and it's finally here. John is back behind the bench with the Project Sherpa and what exactly is a Sherpa anyway? Let us know in the comments. After that, watch John build up the frotn axle assembly with some Supershafty parts while chatting about concepts behind the build and general thoughts from John. You know it will be entertaining!

A thin coating of grease on the bearings when installing in aluminum and brass is nice when you pull them apart at a later date.

I might put some penetrating oil on there. Didn't consider the stainless on alloy seizing up. If they are anodized in the pocked it won't.

Can't wait to buy one of these chassis kits once they're back in stock. I plan on doing a very similar build, I'm excited to see how it turns out!

Good to see I'm not the only one who uses the plastic back-side of my hex-wrench to push in bearing. If I have to tap it in , I use a socket that's the same size as the bearing.

I try and use a socket that is slightly smaller than the outer race of the bearing. Could of also used that vice with a little care instead of a press.

Hi John love the stuff you get up to and yes build as slow if not slower than you bud like things to be correct. Please can you advise me with regards to axles/ AR60 style and portals. Where is the best place to buy axle housings or complete axles from and how do you know if things will fit!? I bought some axle complete of EBAY and your comment in this video regarding interference fit made me laugh….. I can catch a hook through the space next to my bearing fit and don’t know what to do with it now. Gears are rubbing and binding and just not a happy camper….. thinking of going vanquish- any reputable retailer for them? Can you recommend rated vendors for complete or built up axle options for AR60 style? Anyway keep up the good work - happy crawling!

A Sherpa is a mountain guide. These guys are known to be very knowledgeable survivalists that have made the climbs they guide multiple times. I believe the name is Nepalese (Nepal) and started with Mt Everest guides

Quick tip of u don't have a small bearing press on hand a motorcycle chain breaker works awsome you can make very small movements at a time. Maybe a bicycle chain breaker for tiny bearings👍

I don't know lol first time iv heard that name Sherpa in RC but it looks pretty sweet though I must admit. Hey brother question? I'm newish to the scale and trail truck scene iv tried all kinds of different motors n ESC's from brushed 2s n 3s reedy and some of your motors which absolutely amazing live the trail master expert brushed motors are my absolute favorite brushed motors btw. Now I'm trying out a tenshock 2400kv 3650 motor 6 pole 9slot is what it says. Iv heard good things about em and some not to good so I'll guess I'll find out in the am when it shows up lol. Anyway I'm using a element Enduro Trail walker I been trying to get up a stupid steep sand / rock hill.. tires ect are good no issues there I'm having issues when I get to the top of the hill where it gets even more vertical my truck will start lifting it's front wheels off the ground and if I try to bounce it or speed up up 90% of the time it'll flip over n roll down the hill a good 30 feet or more lol. Any advice on shock set ups to help or any advice on how I could beat the hill?? Lol it's 90% sand like packed sand and very Lil dirt and rocks like quartz crystal and granite mostly and shell. I'm mostly using my Interco Super Swamper TSL SXs 1.9s 110mm tall and my 1.9 hobby soul 120mm "4.75 on paper but in reality "4.83" tall Mud Slingers. Which are basically Interco Super Swamper TSL Boggers same concept. Both tires get me up the hill my other tires have a hard time. All my weight is in the front my two servos "Steering and Winch servo" my integy winch also yeah I got two front winch's lol. And im using the front battery mount and use a big 5200mah champion 80c 3s lipo. It's the big one and my tow chain is in the front I'm using metal front and rear bumpers and brass on the pumpkins and other places. It's a heavy truck TBH the rims are RC4wD 7 lug white Steel rims quite heavy lol. So it's got plenty weight in the front n center. I'm gonna use a tenshock 2400kv 540 Crawler brushless motor on a 13T pinion 57 spur most likely which is it's current gearing atm I'm running a 3300kv 3660 motor and it'll scoot lol. Anyway could you do a video on how to get articulation and how to set up suspension for extremely steep basically vertical climbs???
