My son will be a sophomore this year. On his first day of kindergarten, I came back from the bus stop, sat on my couch and started bawling 😭, then I wrote a letter to him. I’ve done this every first day of school since. When he graduates, I will give him all the letters (along with $100 bill inside each one) so he can see how much every year has meant. You’ll make it thru mama, just embrace every new adventure! Also as a stay at home mama, I volunteered SO much for his schools throughout the years, really helped me keep tabs on his friends , especially as he got older ;)

I remember when Gigi started preschool and she had such a hard time adjusting. So glad to hear she did SO well with Kindergarten starting! I have a 2 year old (a month younger than Lissy) and the idea of sending her off to school for a day both breaks my heart and fills me with joy. We aren’t sure if we are going to be doing homeschooling or not at this point but as a stay at home mama, the idea of sending her off makes my heart ache a bit. Thank you for sharing your sweet girls and their growth with us all 🥰

I feel like the term "bittersweet" colors literally every area of parenthood...forever. We felt it throughout our girls' childhoods with every milestone, and even still and they are in their mid and late 30s! Every family gathering or vacation we all take together is so wonderful and feels like old times, then comes the painful goodbye, knowing it will be awhile until we are all together again. I still get emotional, all these years later. It takes a few days, then I settle back into being so grateful for the daughters we have, and even more grateful that our relationships with them remain strong enough that the goodbye still hurts 🙂

I remember my first day of kindergarten very clearly, even though I am now 62 years old! I had siblings that were 10+ years older than me, so I was really excited to be going to school. I remember getting on a bus and being walked to my classroom. I remember walking into the room, seeing several kids crying, and thinking, "Hey! What's going on here? This is supposed to be fun!" ❤😂🎉
@micheleklinger5163 ай бұрын
It definitely is an emotional time. When my son was going to kindergarten, my husband and I put him on the bus, and then we drove to the school so I could see him get off and walk in. (In my defense, we just moved to Ohio and didn't know anyone.) I wanted the memory, and it's tucked away forever! 😊

“Don't you love New York in the Fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies… I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” That is probably my most favorite quote from any movie or TV show! As for me, when I was in school which was in the 1980s, what I loved most about this time of year was getting school supplies and I don’t mean new clothes and new shoes although that was nice, but it was getting the crayons and the pencils and the notebooks and the boxes to keep your stuff in which back then was actually made out of thick decorative cardboard. It may sound weird, but I just love that smell and anytime that I smell that now it just takes me back to my school days!

Hi I have watched you for years but usually keep fairly quiet. I enjoy your channel and I wanted to tell you that I so understand the emotions that I brought up with sending your children off to school. I’m 55 and a mom of three and I have sent my kids all off to school. Then off to college and two so far off to their own homes. Now I’m reliving all of the emotions that that brings up because I have two grandchildren now and I take care of them during the week and they usually stay overnight once a week even during the school year. I can remember my grandsons first day of kindergarten and now this year my granddaughter will be starting kindergarten. I feel like I’m going through all the emotions again. Thinking of you and all the Moms and all the Grandmothers and everyone who feels this kind of way.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love back to school season! I’ve been teaching elementary art for 29 years and I still get excited every year! I find it so interesting that there are places where people put their kids on a bus for the first day of school. I teach in a public neighborhood school and almost all of our kids are car riders, so their parents walk them in on the first day. I cannot imagine the emotions and nerves of sending your kindergartener off on a bus for their first day of school. You did amazing, mama! I hope she loves every minute and has a great year! 🍎

When my then new kindergartener daughter (now 20!) had her first day of school, her school has a party for all kindergarten parents. They called it “boo hoo party) just for the parents to cry together and to commiserate the happiness and the sadness we all had watching our baby go to school.

We were lucky, their Grandparents always bought clothes, school supplies, fun stuff for them because they enjoyed doing so. I miss those days so much and have grandchildren now, love that so much! The outfits you picked out are adorable Jessica! I truly enjoyed this video, you'll look back at these times, I mean not trying to hurry things here😅. We want to treasure these years. I even remember when my Mom walked me to school in kindergarten, she would walk me to the corner where the school was and let me walk the rest of the way. I'd look back at her every time. Then I'd come home with scraped knees just about every day because I was a clutz and still a clutz😅😅. It gets easier Jess, different emotions with each grade, new experiences for them. I cried when my baby boy went to Kindergarten and I cried on his high school graduation. It goes super fast but you can enjoy every moment. Continue to build core memories.

Hi! I’m getting my masters in Occupational Therapy and as soon as you started to talk about the tailbone pain my brain was storming 😂 I’m glad PT is helping, but for long term try seeing if your office chair/ body positioning during your work day is creating that reoccurring pain! Sometimes just a change in position can make a mountain of a difference 🫶🏻 Love you! Hope you’re feeling better!

Sweet momma! This season of life is filled with so much emotion. It is beautiful! You and Tyler are doing great I teach at a K through 8th grade school and I LOVE seeing the new kindergartners every year. I teach the junior high kids so it’s so fun to see those tiny little humans walk around campus and just look everywhere in awe and excitement. Once in a while, during my prep period, I can be seen hopping in the kindergarten line as they go back to their classroom, going into their classroom with them, sitting with them and just visiting for a few minutes. It makes the teacher giggle and the kids love that a “big kid teacher” is hanging out with them. lol

Oh Jess I’m so glad school starting was such a good experience! Just wait til she comes home one day and reads a sign or the cereal box or does math out of nowhere! It’s the coolest thing. Unfortunately we had the opposite experience last year, it was so traumatic for both of us and now I’m filled with anxiety for how things will go in a few weeks when it all starts again. My child has disabilities and it’s so hard to advocate for them while trying to maintain a positive working relationship with school staff. Sending best wishes for an awesome year!

Momma of two, a 15 yr old and 7 yr old. First couple days are always the hardest when they just start school! Keep yourself busy and the time will fly by!

This really made me miss clothes shopping for my daughter. She is 16 now and hates everything that i think she would like. She had the best shoe collection and we loved shopping at Justice. Shopping for my son is fun but not the same! I hope the girls have a great school year.

It’s totally normal to get emotional. I have my first grandbaby, but I remember those days!

My kids are both in their 20s now so I don't have any back to school days right now, but I was always sad when school started back up. I love Summer. I love the heat and sunshine and I love time with family which is always easier in the Summer. I live in Michigan so Summer is too short and Winter is too long. School days were always so busy and I really loved the lazier days of Summer. I was always excited for my kids to see friends that they might not have seen during the Summer, or to make new friends, but honestly, I always missed my kids when they were at school, even in their teen years.

I found that EXACT back to school signboard at Dollar Tree ( identical except it wasn't framed) for 1.25!

I was home with my kids ft when they were little- no day care or preschool. Big mistake. That first day, week, YEARS were such an adjustment. 😭 but it’s so nice to see them grow and learn and gain independence. They are almost 11 and 13 now (30 seconds later) and I’m getting sad looking at the other end of their schooling and growing. It really goes by so fast. I want to press pause! 👉🏼👈🏼 Love to you and those sweet girls ❤️ you’re all doing great.

I love back to school! I’m an elementary school special Ed para educator! This morning I just picked up my keys to my building and next week I’m going to head in to make bulletin boards and help set up the classroom I work in. I love looking through all the school supplies in the stores plus I always do some back to school clothes shopping for myself!

As a person from the U.K. it’s really interesting to hear your take on the summer coming to an end and kids going back to school. In the U.K. children have only just broken up for the summer break, they go back the first week in September. In the U.K. it feels like summer is only just beginning because children have only recently started their summer break.

Back to school has always been my favorite time of year. My daughter is starting kindergarten in a few weeks and my Mama heart is bursting with a lot of emotions. I’m excited for her, and nervous too. And I know I’m going to tear up. But I just can’t believe how fast the time has gone.

As the oldest of two daughters, I was always the one excited for school in the nerdiest of ways. It wasn't just about seeing my friends, or making new friends... it was about what I would learn, laugh about, and expanding my horizons. I really loved learning, and school was an environment I always loved! Thanks for letting us into this big moment! I don't always get a chance to check Instagram (as I limit my phone) but watch a lot of YT on my TV. Love you and the whole family! xoxoxoxo

My son is going to be a senior this year and I HATE back to school, especially this last year. It’s not school that I don’t like, it’s the routine and not having time to do other fun things. I’m especially dreading this year because I know that it’s going to fly by and I’m not ready for that. So happy that Gigi is enjoying school! Don’t blink mamma!!! It goes really fast! 🩷🩷🩷
