I am not sure what the new camera is / was, I think he used GoPros before, which are kind of known for having overheating issues sometimes. Those action camera type ones have the huge advantage of beeing not too fuzzy when it comes to focussing due to how they are built and work. You also don´t have to mess with any exposure settings etc under normal circumstances and credit where credit is due, GoPro did a really decent job on getting the software to handle that stuff under quite a range of situations while getting good video. That is exactly what those cameras are made for. Also depending on how they are set up or how you hold them, they have pretty good image stabilization. (some models depending on the video quality settings can be mounting to an airplane doing barrel rolls and they have so much leftover sensor real estate outside of what is saved as video, that they can keep a stable horizon. just by digitally rotating the image.) The new camera seemed to be a technically more decent camera when it comes to really detailed video or still photos, not sure exactly what kind, but with a wider aperture allowing to focus on the parts in front with the back getting blurry and a ton of settings that allow to tweak every little detail of light, colour, focus etc. Disadvantage, their automatic programs are quite often kind of lacking if you run the camera out of a set situation with even lighting etc. So as mentioned, the advantage is you can set everything individually, the disadvantage is you have to set up everything appropiately.

It looks like the aftermarket upgrade lasted 20 years give or take, I'd say thats better then the stock part if you ask me. Plus that was a pretty good looking Replacement part a lot of engineering went into it by the looks of the adaptor manifold. It wasn't your cheap blow molded plastic held in with chewing gum. I'd say from a manufacturing stand point it was as good if not better then the stock unit. And it was no doubt made by the same transmission manufacturer. If you think Dodge built that transmission your wrong, dodge orders parts and stipulates the quality the bean counters almost always go for the cheapest parts they can buy. As long as it last longer then you 60k mile 1 year warranty they are happy. No auto maker builds all there own parts, Ford, Gm and Chrysler do not own a tire manufacturing plant. Gm doesn't make seats. Ford don't make brake pads. Parts are obtained from other manufactures. The truck or car is assembled at a Brand manufacturer The companies who supply parts to the manufactures also make aftermarket parts. Do you think Ford makes the JBL radio parts, no Harmon electronics makes them for ford. Infinity for dodge Harmon kardon for upper end cars ( same company by the way) Alpine makes auto parts under the Alps brand as well as factory radios. Clarion has been making factory radios for 70 years. Many aftermarket parts are made by OEM suppliers.

I know many of you loathe the new camera, but personally I love it. Yes it is a little rough on the eyes at times, but remember the man decided to keep doing daily uploads as he’s learning to use it; instead of just switching to a pre-recorded or weekly style. I would offer advice as I love my bulky manual adjusting Nikons. But I’m unsure what kind of camera this is. Overall, if you can find auto focus settings, and auto brightness settings, you should be set. I would recommend taking some time to play with some 2 minute recordings while using your various flashlights and lumen creating devices. The shutter speed on a big camera is what controls things like those fluttering lines you see on screen. Basically matching the speed of the lens to the frequency of the overhead lighting or spotlights. By adjusting the shutter speed and depth of opening of the lens, you can eliminate those items. But it gets complicated when you have multiple lighting sources operating at different brightness levels and different electrical frequencies to produce those lights. (This is one reason photographers bring their own light kits and charge more for certain kinds of sessions where they have to use their own lighting setup). Anyways, keep up the content Ray!
@joshuafunk9438
@joshuafunk9438 9 ай бұрын
There’s more to it, but in a generic nutshell, once you can dial it in with some testing, you should be able to just use the same kinds of spotlights and flash lights and not have to worry about any adjustments each time you film. Conversely, if you often just grab and go, and don’t pay attention to the lights you use, you’ll have to memorize the settings or keep it written down somewhere to make sure you reset them for your filming session. I love the quality on the new camera. It’s fantastic for contrast, detail, and better image quality. Happy to help if I can Ray!

Check if your new camera has image stabilization, optical preferred, and if so please turn it on. It'll dramatically improve the viewing experience. Even if it's digital stabilization it'll probably be worth it. If it doesn't (which would be mildly surprising) then look into a post-processing image stabilization software for whatever you use to edit your videos. The downside of such software is similar to digital stabilization, you lose a little image quality in exchange for being able to dynamically compensate for erratic motion. It also will add a bit to the rendering time. Image stabilization is something the go-pros do digitally by default afaik, the higher-quality ones may be optical, not sure.

This makes the case for retaining the old parts that were replaced either by you or a repair shop. Don't throw them out! The only things I throw out are used/damaged gaskets.

It was a good thinking the owner had to keep the original part. But then, it hit me. If the part isn't faulty, why replace it? Also, it's amazing how sometimes such a small part can cause so much havoc. Have yourself a great day, Ray, Wife Unit and the little ones.

It was an aftermarket unit to make the transmission perform better or be more durable. That's usually the purpose of those mods. In the case of the transmission, it probably made it shift at different intervals, or shift smoother than factory.

@@williameldridge9382 Ok, somehow now I'm more confused. What you say makes sense, but if it didn't work, why not revert to the original when the problems came to the surface? There has to be a reason why, right?

@@paulocarvalho6480 I am wondering if there is an aftermarket in it, and there are plenty of those available, why not just order a new aftermarket (customer can order it) and just put that in. Unless it's a time thing.. where he cannot be without the vehicle while the aftermarket arrives, and this is more a temp fix while new aftermarket show up.

My guess is some BS truck mod to give +1 HP. There are some aftermarket parts that are better designed, mainly due to oem cutting cost for cheap crap plastic. But there is a lot of junk, especially electronics. OEM's spend a lot in r&d and fit form function. best to go oem unless price isn't even comparable or part not available especially on today's cars where everything talks to everything.

As you had the aftermarket solenoid that replaced the original 'suspect' solenoid, why not use the old block with the new solenoid?
@davidjeromedawson
@davidjeromedawson 9 ай бұрын
I don’t think there was anything wrong with the original parts. They just upgraded and the upgrade failed for whatever reason. Possibly could have gotten a replacement for the upgrade, but would have had to know where to order that part from and which part to order. Owner should have supplied new part.
@capnpugwash5403

@@davidjeromedawson the unit wasn't upgraded with an OEM part. So presumably even back then there was no upgrade available. It would have been done as a recall so there would be no reason to have the expense of an aftermarket installation. Unless is was a Dogey Doge dealer.

Ray, you could have ordered a GM replacement governor pressure solenoid instead of having to remove the GM solenoid block .Then just pop in the new GM solenoid. Worst case scenario you can order the whole GM solenoid/block assembly for $185 all day long. That OEM solenoid is under engendered causing "shift hunting" between 1st and 2nd gear. Also, you should have replaced that solenoid block gasket. I have same truck but 2005. 48RE trans

I have an 01 3500 with a Cummins. I got a "no bus" reading on my odometer. It turns out I got the transmission hot plowing and melted the harness to the case. OD problems are usually a ground connection. Ram is famous for bad ground connections.
