The employee at the dealership screwed the car owner and the employer. Dealership paid that technician for that labor that wasn’t done. Plus it’s the dealership’s reputation that will suffer. I’ve turned hundreds of rotors and this man is correct rotors were not turned and no doubt the transmission didn’t even get a fluid change so nothing was done to transmission. Nothing unusual to not come with a trans dipstick but if you service it you have to buy a dipstick to replace the plug in the dipstick.

I don't know what a turn costs where yall are, but in the middle of KY I can get a rotor turned for $10-15/piece. That's $40-$60 all around. They gave her a $35 discount. It's shady of course, but they will probably tell her they didn't charge for the turn. They are full of sh!t. Hope she gets $$ back, but chances are they will only cover the $40 turn and never work on her cars again.

My Mercedes went into limp mode and wouldn’t shift out of low gear. Foreign repair shop wanted $1,800 to repair it. I decided to do some research on my own. Watched a couple KZbin video of models like mine doing the same thing. The video showed when this happens do the following. 1. Turn key to on position but do not start the engine. 2. Push the gas pedal to the floor and hold it on the floor for 20 seconds. 3. Turn key off but keep holding the gas pedal on the floor for 2 minutes. It resets the transmission computer with the engine computer and will most likely cure the problem. I did as the video instructed and transmission not only shifted out of limp mode but is smoother than it’s been since I owned the car. So a 5 minute KZbin video. 5 minutes going through the instructions and my car is performing flawlessly. You know that foreign car repair shop know how to do this so they would have made $1,800 pure profit in 15 minutes. You don’t have to be mechanically inclined to do this research and on most new cars everything is computer controlled so it’s all about resetting like rebooting your home computer. Most of it can be done without any special programs etc. It’s can be done by using combinations of things your car is equipped with. Those combinations can be found by searching KZbin which is great because the videos walk you through it. It doesn’t always work but there’s a good chance it may and it only takes minutes to learn and try.

I had a 2005 Elise. I’m thinking your theory that it’s a Celica compressor as the fast version (I don’t recall the name) has the identical 2ZZ engine as the lotus. The only difference is that Toyota sets the fuel cut off at around 7800 rpm whereas the Lotus tune I’d set for 8800. I’m wondering if they changed the later ones to a larger pulley to prevent drivers from blowing up the compressor when they rev it to 8800

For those unaware, the LBZ Duramax in Ray's truck was the last model year of that engine before DEF fluid became a requirement on all GM diesel trucks. That's one of several key reasons that model year Duramax is forever in demand.

You do know that "Alison" transmission is made by Ford. And is the same as the Ford 10 speed trans. There's another KZbin video that shows the venture between Ford and GM

The Rockauto shopping spree - have you been watching over my shoulder?!? I also go look at clearance items - "Hmm, I don't need that right now, but it's only $10!" The best deal I found so far was a power steering hose for a '96 Accord - found it on clearance for a penny! Brand frickin' new in a giant ziplock bag. Worked like a champ!

Its funny how folk have an opinion on a car but are all over the place proving the point. That car is 20 years old & he’s critiquing it like its last years model. Not many will have a better fit and ride, engine speaks for itself and the noises are not common. The tech was actually on point for the time, and ahead is most resoects: illuminated seals, folding hard top, glass wind break, hids, motion navigation and radio cover, bluetooth, dual zone hvac, real wood and leather, dual air filters & the same engine in the 4door LS and SUV in a coupe… remember it came out as an $80k car- over 20years ago.

I would have gone with a duce and a half (2.5 tonne) military truck. And worked on that instead. Would have been chealer and less wiring nightmares. Ray already throws everything in there and msot 2.5 tonne mimlitary trucks do have a built in pto with a generator and or winch. Better Sht hit the fan and work vehicle in general depite it's bed height.

Ray, love the channel and I wouldn't stop watching even if your politics were completely opposite of mine. I don't guess I saw the video people are mad about. But your "centrist" view, I do have a bit of an issue with. While I agree with the idea you present, I presume you were basically referring to the recent potus selection. If that's the case, then I would argue the recent pick (the guy that people are shaving their heads about) IS more of a centrist. I can list his stance on several issues, but the best litmus test is to see who supports him in govt. The legacy/career politicians on both sides want him gone. That basically tells me all I need to k know! (Although I did do my homework on actual issues, as well).

Could use a bit more context as to why you're doing it. Lifting a chassis off a frame isn't unusual but why? I did the same but it was obviously to make a better body and tandem rear wheels and a simpler diesel engine.
