I just saw that Tatiana Patiz has died of breast cancer! This is so sad! She was one of those models that was effortlessly cool. I saw her on a photo shoot early in the morning in Soho. It was freezing, it was February, and she was wearing a sheer tank top bra, and body suit with sheer leggings,striking the pose in the cold, half dressed, that's an OG at work. R.I.P. Tatiana Patiz, it's so sad, another fashion hero of mine gone. My condolences to her family. Such a sweet soul gone far too soon.

I was one year older than Tatjana when she achieved supermodel status in the 90s and hit NY an hour away from where I grew up, where I dreamed of being part of that elite scene myself. Now I'm wise enough to know that success is who you are within, not what you outwardly achieve or what you look like. I like to think Tatjana reached the same realizations before she moved on from this world, and died happy deep inside, not clinging to where the applause had long since already faded.

Beautiful model! Ethereal and cool presence, was in her prime late 80s to early 90s. Her Herb Ritts photo shoots are some of the best! Was primarily a print model. Her walk was heavy and off balance, lacking energy and passion. She didn't like runway and it showed. In fact at the Fall 95 Todd Oldham show in an interview she said she was never going to do another season of runway again.

Tatjana Patitz, the 50ft woman from Nick Kamen's Tell Me(1988). Her giantess character was gorgeous and breathtaking indeed. Being so huge, powerful, beautiful, glamorous, kind and gentle, she literally blew up my mind when I watched the music video as a kid. I hope that she will grow into a 50ft woman in real life and dominate the whole world. Giantess Revolution must be realized.

Supermodel Tatjana Patitz has died at the age of 56: Vogue, announced news of her death on Jan. 11. The cause of death was confirmed by her agent to be breast cancer. Considered one of the original supermodels, the Germany-born, Sweden-raised Patitz entered her first modeling contest at age 17 in Stockholm. Though she took home third place, it wasn't until famed photographer Peter Lindbergh photographed her a few years later in 1988 that her career started to blossom. One of Patitz's most memorable appearances came after she modeled for British Vogue in 1990 - George Michael cast her for his "Freedom '90" music video alongside Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista.

Note: Versace did not replace Tatjana with any other model - not Claudia nor Stephanie nor Carla nor Helena - at the Fall 1991 show to walk with Linda, Cindy, Naomi and Christy to "Freedom! 90". At that moment in time, only Tatjana could walked THAT walk with them. If Tatjana had chosen to do that show, she would have been there. She represented Versace's brand in ads before the 1991 show, and well after the 1991 show - on runways and in the 1994 Versace campaign. I've read she knew it was going to be a media bomb and she was not interested in being a part of it. She really did shy away from the spotlight. I understand to an extent why she didn't endure the way that her contemporaries did, there is something "challenging" about her beauty (a lot of harsh, crooked lines forming a strangely alluring whole), and as this video demonstrates, runway was not her strong suit, either. But when you look through the editorial work that she did with the likes of Peter Lindberg, Herb Ritts, Patrick Demarchelier, etc., there's no denying how rare and memorable her look was. RIP Tatjana.
