Veronica WAS FUN! She knew how to read the room. Smart, sassy, seductive. She was irreverent and flirtatious, but knew when poise and elegance was called for. Veronica was one of only a few girls who could contort to the haute couture poses in a RTW presentation, thus elevating the look she was wearing to high style. Veronica was skilled. Period!

Veronica Webb: She was one of the biggest names in fashion for at least 10 years! Veronica was that woman! She was advised by Iman and hung around the big money ladies: Cindy Crawford, Yasmeen Ghauri, Christy Turlington. She lived in New York City but traveled to Paris, France and Milan,Italy for the big shows! Veronica Webb ( glamorous and attractive when she was young)! She was always so neat and funky! Revlon gave her a contract for several years to sell makeup to women of color ( she was paid several million dollars). I am sure she banked some of that money!

Veronica Webb: She was trained to model by a famous North African designer (Azzedine Alai). Veronica Webb always was professional and chic in her runaway days! Her poses and stylish entrances were raved about by the top designers! Revlon wanted her not because she was the most beautiful model! Veronica is classy and knows how to market herself and products! Veronica got the Revlon deal because she was well spoken and could sell makeup to afro-american, latino and asian females! Revlon used her to sell makeup to American women of color!

I've heard that tokenism was the basis of Naomi and Tyra's media perpetuated feud---the idea that there can only be one black supermodel at a time. Naomi fell for it, unfortunately; however, I've never heard of Veronica pitted against Naomi or Naomi pitted against Iman. I wonder if Tyra got under Naomi's skin for some other reasons and I wonder why the media ran with it.

Good Analysis, I think that Tyra and Naomi were specifically pitted against each other because they actually resembled at that point in time. Naomi was also pitted against newcomer Brandi Quinones at that time as well. By the time Naomi and Tyra were forced to fight over the “top spot”, Veronica has already secured a major cosmetics contract and expanded into film, acting and even wrote a book!!

Yeah I also think Tyra generated some of that press herself . She was the last of the supermodels but the first to take on the internet. No one had more command of how to generate likes and tweets like Tyra. She knew that she could play off that narrative and play victim. The one thing Tyra hated was that she knew she was Miss Big Britches in the US but Naomi was international stardom. Sometimes I think both of them kinda played everyone while making their coin. You are right there was never any problems when it came to Iman Bev Johnson or Veronica and Naomi getting along .

Veronica Webb was popular among Afro- Americans, when she was in the Spike Lee Movies! I am Honduran- American (born in Arizona)! I followed her career from 1990-2010. She had a Revlon Contract and was a top runaway model!She is lighter-skinned ( due to her mixed heritage) but she is mostly african heritage ( some Native and European in her family)!

Veronica has lots of Native- American Blood, that is why she looks Puerto Rican Veronica has mentioned Native-American and European Blood in her family. She is majority West African Heritage, though! Patricia Velasquez is from Venuzuela! She is mostly Native- American Blood ( Inca). Those are the people who were there before Spain! They were there 30,000 years before Christopher Columbus!

She's definitely BLACK and identifies as such. I know that most of the school systems don't teach about the realities and truths of African American history, but many of us come in various shades because of the sexual abuses that occurred during slavery. Our heritage is thusly mixed, but that mixture (in AMERICA) has never and does not exclude our racial identification. You need to speak and listen more carefully to African Americans. Your mind would be opened.

​@@irinka_kat Sure the 90s had a handful of models that did great in print ads but were mediocre on the run way. Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford are prime examples. But that decade also had the best cat walkers ever. IMO even Yasmeen is better than Naomi. At least some of the 90s models could compete with Naomi on the runway. While the models of today can't hold a finger to Naomi.
