A concern for safety when it comes to detailing products is something i dont see much over in the states. Here in Norway this has become a big concern, as most of the chemicals we detailers use are harsh and will(yes, they will) lead to serious health issues when you expose yourself regularly to it. Especially when it comes to absorption through the skin. Wear gloves and protective eye-wear as well as a proper face mask.

@m4drx7 жыл бұрын
I pretty much agree with your way of doing it all, with the exception of leaving the foam on and taking the wash pad straight to it. It pains me a little more each time I see it your videos and this may be what the chap above is referring to. Given your amazing attention to detail in washing of your brushes and mitts etc. it just doesn't make sense to me to leave a product on which softens/loosens dirt and rub that into the paint. You have the 918 of pressure washers after all and that 30 seconds rinsing the pre wash and loosened dirt off would surely be worth negating the risk of scratching the paint. Anyway, love your videos...i find them rather therapeutic to watch!

One thing this video definitely shows is a difference from a very detail oriented person vs "the average joe" so to speak when it comes to detailing cars. Most people just wash their car and don't dwell too much more into it.. Me being a detailer myself, although far from any "pro" status or anything near, just a small business I want to build, I picked up on it instantly and was saying to myself "well that's how you do it normally in my wash or anything I do for my process.." and the blah blah, ect, ect, of reasons why. I always knew there was a difference but haven't really tried to see it. It was a interesting dose of surreal-ness there. I've had the same frame of mind for so long it is just normal, seeing that was a reminder of where I came from. Enough rambling, Great video again on the subject!

I'll bet you must have a nice air compressor to inflate the tires??? A few years back, I invested in a Makita MAC5200 w/a GoodYear yellow 50' rubber hose & a Milton S-506 dual head (old-school) swivel tire inflator w/the psi gauge built into handle (so u can monitor the air pressure while inflating)... When cleaning & dressing the tires (especially under-inflated tires) the ground interferes w/the cleaning & dressing process.... so, i have to roll the car about 18 inches to get access to the part of the tires that i missed.

This was interesting and great fun to watch. Regarding rinsing off the foam before using mitts and pads. I think, if one has more "substantial" dirt on the car, rinsing would be a good idea. I know Florida dirt and dirt around the world, isn't always the same. I certainly don't want to drag foam with dirt in it around, so I rinse off.

Hey Matt. What wash strategy would you recommend for someone that doesn’t have a foam canon? Just do the soap on the mitt, in the bucket, and fill it up? Or would you add more soap in that case? I live in a condo, so sadly don’t have any control over what equipment I use.
@ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын
I would add a garden hose quick disconnect set so you could use a hose foamer prior to washing. That's what I did for years. The rest you could wash like normal.

One thing I'd like to point out is that I use soap in my bucket and spray my brushes off before putting them back in the bucket like you do with the Kranzle and literally end up with no or very little grime in the bucket. I like using the soap as I like the lubricity it creates with the brushes. Just my 2 cents... And know how that goes. :)

Obsessed Garage Matt, (for those of us without a wash bay but with a garage) what do you think about using the wall mounted pressure washer but with a hose reel mounted nearby? @ObsessedGarage7 жыл бұрын

@ashash75137 жыл бұрын
chucko83 Up and down will drag the dirt from the dirtiest part of the car, the bottom, across the paint when you go back up. You want to start from the top, going left to right and ending at the bottom as show in this video.
@chucko837 жыл бұрын
Ash Ash I get that. But I swear he said up and down in another video! And the reasoning was totally different.
@joshgorman45217 жыл бұрын
only applies to the sides of the car
@chucko837 жыл бұрын
Josh Gorman he seems to go against that here.. no?
@Pierriewargen7 жыл бұрын
Esoteric washes up-down on the sides. My guess is that you get a more uniform amount of dirt on one part of the panel that way, instead of draging 90% of the dirt on the bottom part. Hard to explain but if you imagine that the bottom half of the door has 50 dirt particles and the top has none. If you then divide it bottom-top you wont have any dirt accumulation on the top part, but when you then wash the bottom part you drag all the 50 particles across that part. If you wash the panel vertically instead, you wash half the panel with 25 particles in the shampoo mix, but it will be over the same size surface. So in theory it should give less risk of marring, or at least do the same, less amount of marring over the entire surface instead of getting a lot of marring on the lowest part of the car. Makes sense?

i mean douches gonna douche, so of course you are. keep conning senile residents of the villages out of retirement money and spending 10 hrs a week washing over priced, rapidly depreciating cars, Beurfort, you have a knack for it. some of us with lives of value are smart enough that we can think of better ways to invest valuable time and money. and lol at your little bitch pressure washer. pat yourself on the back when you got something with a burner and 5000+ lbs of psi. hahahaha

Coming from a guy who was selling SunJoes and used it on your Porsche as I recall. I'm starting to see why you're getting more and more nasty comments calling you out on the shit you say.
