8:25 simple, Goku, due to his virtuous actions on Earth when alive, was allowed an exception and got to keep his body in the afterlife. Everybody else, kinda just chills as a soul. Unlike the "clouds," the dead people, Goz and Mez are ogres/demons, so they're native to hell, not dead people who went there. So they just kinda exist as they are there.

The clouds are people's souls. The reason Goku has a body is because Kami brought Goku's body to the afterlife so he could train.

That’s the thing. Dragonball filler episodes are usually good. It’s only coming up in a while where episodes some times get stretched so thin with almost nothing happening where it gets to be a bit of a drag. And I’ve watched all Dbz more than once, but I forgot about Launch showing up so much. I’ve only read a little of the manga, but I know she’s not in it at all at this point

@@yozarian86 Ehh, there is only one moment where filler gets a real problem, and that the arc where entire episodes are filled with mythos and 5 minutes take 20 episodes, it is the only time when DBZ actually has filler disrupting the flow of the main events. For the rest, DB and DBZ did a great job keeping the main events on a proper page, and place the filler to the intermediate sections of the story.

When this was released in the UK the shirts read hfil, and were edited to not say hell. They referred to it as the Home For Infinite Losers. Easily my favourite creative censorship, it's hilarious!

Hell in Dragon Ball is kind of a cartoony riff on East Asian and Buddhist conceptions of Hell. King Yemma/Enma is the traditional judge of the dead while Gozu and Mezu are the Japanese names for Ox-Head and Horse-Face, who guard the entrance to the underworld. It's a bit like an anime version of those cartoons at the pearly gates that always seem to come out when somebody famous dies.

King Yemma is the big dude that sends ppl to heaven or hell you already seen him . He also told Goku he can travel the snake way to get to King Kai . Also also Gaz and Mez both work in Hell thats why they dont leave it and the floating clouds are ppl who who wasnt able to keep their body after death .

You asked why the souls are clouds. A detail lost in translation (and from the manga to anime in general) is that keeping ones body in the afterlife is a very rare privilege. Goku kept his at Kami's request to King Yemma. Ordinary people and bad guys just turn into spirits

Its actually made pretty clear in the anime that keeping your body is a special privilege and why the souls are clouds. Reactors tend to forget or miss these little details because they're too busy reacting to the videos to make their videos interesting.

@@michaelmcmaster6810 I know what you're talking about, I watched the series already. Even at this point tho, they've already shown Raditz with his full body before King Yema sent him down. It's never actually explained why but one theory is that Villains retain their bodies in order to give their jailers something physical to punish. Not to mention that the manga ends up doing the same thing later on with a certain villain's head in a cocoon. Either way I was just talking about the fact that it's made pretty clear up to this point that the clouds are souls. So if the viewer doesn't understand that it's mostly their fault as opposed to the creators.

In the original localization, translators didn't want to use the word Hell, so they digitally edited the shirts to say HFIL, which the Oni constantly refer to as the "Home For Infinite Loosers". A lot of fans love how stupid that was so it keeps coming up in western DB fandom.
