we had one of these in the late 80s - white with manual gearbox. regularly had 4 people in it - mum driving with three little kids. can remember one trip across town with five on board. fantastic machine. dad and me got pulled over for speeding on xmas day - cop was more interested in the finding out what the car was all about. he didnt issue a ticket in the end. dad did a run auckland-wellington in it and said his regular drive - v8 commodore - would have taken much longer. sold it for a 1990 celica when we out grew it.

Indeed a time warp. I remember a friend racing MR2’s back in the 80’s. Damn, Japanese four bangers were quite different then, and when WEBER Carbs ruled! 😃

That is exactly like the one my old boss had as the office run about. Had most fun on a work trip down to Port Ferry. Mid engined manual rear wheel drive.
