It's amazing how many things Back To The Future 2 actually did get right about life in 2015; drones, hoverboards, entirely CGI films, pointless sequels, 80s nostalgia, smart phones, fingerprint identification, flat screen tvs, watching multiple channels on 1 tv at once, face time calling, robot servers at restaurants, self tieing shows (though they only exist because of this film), A.I. in machines, & The Chicago Cubs winning The World Series (although, they were 1 year off with that 1).

The last scene you show with the line "You mean you have to use your HANDS?! THAT'S A BABY'S TOY!!" Makes me wonder if that's related to kids using VR or something more, or they don't have video games in BTTF2 2015 like the Nintendo Wii U or Wii even?? 🤔🤔 Heck even the Xbox and PS4 still had you using your hands!! 🤔🤔

One thing that no films from the 70s, 80, 90s and early 2000s ever predicted was the invention of smartphones. They all predicted we'd get flying cars, video calls and so on, but there was never smartphones in any of those "futuristic" films. 😅
@ConsciousCloud11 ай бұрын
The closest I've seen to a smartphone in sci-fi media was the Tricorder scanning device in Star Trek specifically the ones in Next Generation and up. I mean it was usually used to analyze someone's vitals which smartphones can do if you're wearing a smart device and could also scan the environment for all sorts of data although unfortunately smartphones can't do all of that yet. Star Trek got alot right though with the tech like touchscreen interfaces, video calling from long distances, a version of the internet with search capabilities, VR, and portable tablets.

The one thing that annoys me in this movie is when Jennifer assumes that future doors don’t open. Jennifer’s brought to her house by the police. After taking a minute to take in her future surroundings, she hides as her future family gathers in the kitchen. She tries to sneak out, but the door doesn’t have a knob, so it won’t open. Even as a kid, I figured that little tab to the right of the door was how you open it. Even when Doc comes to get her, she tells him, ‘the door won’t open, there’s no knob.’ He even tells her to use the tab. Maybe it would’ve worked better if she said, “there’s no knob, and I don’t know how to open it.”

The Cubs finally winning the WS (took em 108 years to do so since their last win in 1908!!!), was just one year later but wrong opposing team, as the Miami team is still in the same league as they are. I guess Zemeckis expected the new Florida/Miami (well he did predict that Florida WOULD have a baseball team, 5 -7 yrs before the Marlins and Devil/Rays arrived!) team to later be placed in the American League, and switch with an existing team, if they had kept the 2 div format, instead of making 3 divs of 5 teams each. 🤷

@MaxZomboni5 күн бұрын
Yeah, but it's no where near that big. Most young people today could care less about the 80s. It's ancient history to them. The Back to the Future writers seemed to think that 80s pop culture was going to last forever.
@frankschalk77905 күн бұрын
@@MaxZomboni sure they say they couldnt care less about the 80's (or the past in general), but its influence can be felt in so much of our pop culture. 90's and 2000s also.
@MaxZomboni5 күн бұрын
@@frankschalk7790 Maybe but I have talked to young people who think that 80s music, movies, pop culture is just dumb. And for the must part they have their own music, movies, pop culture. For them the 80s is what the 50s was to people in the 80s. Sure there was some nostalgia for the 50s in the 80s, but 80s culture still ruled. I think the same is true today. Though I do think that 80s had the strongest pop culture of any decade. I don' think people who didn't live through it, can even take it all in.
@frankschalk77905 күн бұрын
@@MaxZomboni at the risk of sounding old (I don’t give a F if I do), a lot of young folks have extremely limited view on influences on pop culture due to selective acknowledgment of the past. My friends’ child dresses in full 90s grunge attire, yet she insists it’s a new look. The nerve 🤣

@@MaxZomboni I definitely recall being a kid in the 80s and thinking the 70s were definitely uncool. But I also recall seeing old clips of the Beatles and loving it. I couldn’t even afford a brand new guitar. I had to win one and I had to get my dad to give me one when he was still here (rip dad yeah he loved this movie) we watched this October 21st 2015 both at school and at home. All 3 of them. Flying cars? My sister wants one I said one problem what if your car dies in mid air and your parachute doesn’t open? And your backup doesn’t? She was in the military. She probably does have a couple of parachutes. But my entire family loves this movie trilogy. And I wanna see more Elijah Wood? He’s one of the Back To The Future 2 kids in the cafe video game boys? He is also famous for many things I have watched the Lord of the rings series .

The future in BTTF always looked pretty cool. It’s just a shame the film correctly predicted a lot of the worst things about the future: kids glued to screens, everyone using thumb ID to pay for stuff instead of cash, AI doing jobs etc. Most of us just want a hover board or the instant perfect pizza. The fashion is up for debate, but it’s probably better than some examples of current fashion.

okay so i am re-watching this film and i stopped it at 32:56 bc i had to address the dead on predictions. there are a couple things I would like to add just 30 minutes in. #1) in Cafe 80's....there is a black guy sitting in the diner with 2 white girls without anyone creating a fuss...amazing social prediction!.. #2) The home had the equivalent of Alexa. #3) Flat screen tv's!!!!#4) multiple split screen images on flat screen tv's. #5) police ident systems when Jennifer is seen sleeping on the street. ... This film nailed it! If a film can just nail 2 things correctly (for instance 'Aliens" go -pro footage on the helmets of the colonial marines) then it's a classic....this film nailed 5 or 6 futuristic realties on the head!

Yeah but when it Came out 2015 is and was 30 years into the future from 1985, But now that 2015 is now 9 Years in the Past, we know what they got correct, and what they got wrong, such as V.R. Headsets, Skype, Flying Cars, and Double Ties. Biff Supports The Jellicle Cats, his green Jump Suit is ADIDAS. Well Speaking of Hover Boards, Zemeckis did say That They use Magnets against The Earths Magnetic Field, Of course he was Joking, But he knew Magnets would be involved. Well The Lawyer Jab was meant as a Joke, But Yeah Okay. And it's a shame that it was A Joke, Sigh, Arch-Nemesis Trump would be behind Bars, if it weren't for those Pesky Lawyers. Well about Time Travel 1.21 Gigs of Electricity Surges through to the Tachyon Filled Flux Capacitor to thrust the Vehicle through Time and Space. And Elijah Wood is now an A List Celebrity, When Part 2 could've been his only gig.
