The movie almost got that Chicago Cubs prediction exactly right. In the film, the Cubs finally won the World Series again in 2015. In real life, they won it in 2016.

One weird detail, though: the USA Today newspaper blurb says that the Cubs sweep the series in _five_ games, which suggests that somewhere along the way, MLB abandoned the 7-game format for the World Series, and returned to the 9-game format they originally used back in the early 1900s. (In real life, of course, it took the full 7 games for the Cubs to beat Cleveland in 2016. In the actual 2015 WS, the Royals beat my poor, beleaguered Mets in 5 games. The Cubs did make it to the 2015 NLCS, but the Mets swept them to win the NL pennant, probably for the last time before I die. And the Cubs did play the then-Florida Marlins-now Miami-in a memorable NLCS in 2003, which featured the infamous Steve Bartman game.)

There was a special edition re-release of the whole trilogy some years back, and they had Christopher Lloyd reprise his role as Doc to do a little intro video. And in it, he talks about how the highly popular Mr. Fusion technology (which let him replace plutonium with random garbage) had a major flaw which caused them all to explode all over the world, basically destroying modern society. So he set out to prevent the apocalypse, but the only way he could do it was to steer us into the mediocre timeline you and I live in: no fusion power, no flying cars, and so on.

If young Marty and Jennifer went into the future with Doc in the beginning of the movie, how can they visit their future self in 2015?? How could they have kids even?? "The time-traveling is just too dangerous. Better that I devote myself to study the other great mystery of the universe: Women!" Fun Fact: First film appearance by Elijah Wood. He plays one of the two video game boys to whom Marty speaks in the Cafe 80's near the start of the film. Scientific Illiteracy Fact: Despite time-travel being impossible due to Entropy and Thermodynamics, Astrophysicist Carl Sagan considered this the greatest time travel movie ever made. He praised the accuracy in handling the multiple time lines as what would really happen if time travel were possible. In Back To The Future: The Game (1990), Carl Sagan is the alias used by Doc Brown when visiting Hill Valley in 1931. Technical Feat Fact: The biggest effect the picture employs is a camera system called the VistaGlide. There are four scenes that use the effect of the same actor interacting with themselves. The four scenes that were shot were Griff and 2015 Biff in the Cafe 80's, the dinner sequence in 2015, 1955 Biff talking to 2015 Biff in the garage, and 1955 Doc talking with 1985 Doc. In order to create the dinner sequence with VistaGlide, the camera had to be divided into thirds and Michael had to come in three different times to play his older self, Marty Jr., and his daughter Marlene. This is the first film to accomplish interaction between the same actor on the screen twice as two different characters. If you watch closely, you'll see that 2015 Biff's hand disappears during the scene in the garage.

Time travel isn't IMpossible, it's just not accessible. The current theory is traveling backwards to the past is what is not actually possible. Let's hope that's not true. But in regards to time travel. there is a Soviet/Russian cosmonaut, Sergei Krikalev, who spent over 800 total days in space. Due to time dilation, he became essentially the world's first ACTUAL time traveler in 1991, and is 0.02 seconds younger than those born at the same time as him. This was matched by Sergei Avdeyev in 1997.

Fact: Deleted scene from part 2, shows "Old Biff" fading out as Doc and Marty leave 2015 to return to the now-altered 1985. According to the writers, this fade was due to Old Biff having been "killed" by Lorraine sometime in the 1990s, and the ripple effect catching up to him (this is why he's actually in pain, in the actual film)
@Darkcow77
@Darkcow77 Жыл бұрын
I thought that Lorraine killing Biff would only affect the alternate 1985 version of him. I figure in the deleted scene with Biff disappearing was because he changed his future. The 2015 he returned to would have no record that an auto detailing butthead named Biff Tannen ever existed.

@@Darkcow77 The 2015 Biff would either be replaced by his corrupt self, or fade out completely. The fact that he faded out, is because (according to the BTTF writer), that Lorraine killed Biff sometime in the 1990s. There was no alternate Biff to replace 2015 Biff.

8:00 “They really had so much hope for the future, didn’t they? They would be so disappointed. We ain’t got none of that $#*%.” While this is a movie and it’s all fiction, I think your statement is not entirely true. While they DID get a lot of things wrong and they were just mere predictions of what they thought the future was going to be like, they also actually DID get some things right. Interesting fact of the matter, is that the enormous success and popularity of this movie DID inspire NIKE to do a super limited release of the NIKE Powerlaces. I mean the shoes were EXTREMELY expensive and they didn’t make too many of them, but it DID happen. Also the Hoverboards DID come true as well. I mean the Hoverboards like the NIKE powerlaces were unbelievably expensive and the Hoverboards couldn’t work on water, they could hover only a couple of inches or centimeters off the ground, and they could ONLY hover on special copper plated surfaces, but it DID happen too. And on top of that, some of the many things that Back To The Future Part II predicted that actually came true are wide screen, flat screen TV screens everywhere (like at 16:03), Self-ordering kiosks and tablets within dine-in restaurants (like at 9:00), Hands free video games such as the Nintendo Wii or Oculus, Digital conference calling services like ZOOM or FACETIME (like at 16:21), Virtual reality technology like Google Glass or the Oculus Rift (much like how Marty Jr. had at the dinner table), and like you said earlier at 8:07: We DID get the iPhone (which it really looks like Doc Brown is using at 7:05). So not only is this a fantastic entertaining sequel to an already ground-breaking piece of cinema history, it’s also a wonderful example that demonstrates on how life imitates art sometimes.

In fairness, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale have gone on record saying that they knew that they probably wouldn't be able to accurately predict 2015, which is why they were hesitant to do a movie set in the future in the first place. So their solution was to just not take their vision of the future seriously and to treat it like one big joke.

The writers didn't really think that's what 2015 would look like. Every time-traveling story gets it wrong when imagining the future, so they decided to just have fun with it. They weren't really trying to predict flying cars and hoverboards by 2015. They probably didn't even think the Cubs would ever win the World Series. It almost backfired, in a good way. They came close in 2015 but went all the way in 2016. They did "predict" Miami getting an MLB team, though, which happened 4 years after this came out.

It took me years of rewatching the movies to notice that there was absolutely no corresponding characterization in the first film, that it was added in 2/3 as a major plot point. Hey Blank, I normally don't post recommendations anymore. I don't want to be "that guy" in tje comment section, if you know what I mean. However I have been going around to some of my favorite channels and making these suggestions. If you can add them to the list, that would be awesome. Wizards (1977) The Hobbit (1977) Heavy Metal (1981) The Last Unicorn (1982) The Flight Of Dragons (1982) All five are available on KZbin Movies channel to rent or buy, so no excuses about finding them. I suggest turning on subtitles, since you might have mute all the music.

Such a great movie and great trilogy. I think this one is my favorite, but they are all great. Did you recognize Frodo Baggins as one of the kids in the future diner using the arcade game? They had to reshoot that entire scene in the beginning frame for frame after they recast Jennifer. It's kind of impressive how close they got it if you watch the two side by side (there's a youtube video somewhere that shows it).

I think they were only 1 year off with the Cubs prediction. Not bad at all for a team that hadn't won in nearly a century! And they kinda predicted the internet too, evidenced by the pay-by-thumbprint taxi cab, and the Needles phone scam that got Marty fired.

Three's my favorite. It's not everybody's favorite, but it's my favorite. I'm looking forward to your reaction. Speaking of trilogies, that Eastwood movie's from "A Fistful of Dollars." The first in a trio, followed by "For a Few Dollars More," and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." All with Eastwood (different characters), all by legendary Italian director Sergio Leone. (There's a weird effect, since it's an international movie, all the actors speak with their own languages, then it gets dubbed over for every country it gets released in. So Eastwood's dialogue matches his lips, but he'll be talking to a Spanish actor speaking Spanish, dubbed in English, so his lips don't match. It adds this really weird but kind of neat dream-like effect to the movies.) At any rate, they'd all be fantastic to react to.

Remember when I said the ending was a throw away? There was no plan to do a sequel until the first movie became a smash hit, and then they were stuck with that ending. So the second movie had to start with that ending. And the actress playing Jennifer had schedule conflicts, so they re-cast her. Then they knocked her out for most of the movie. LOL.

I don't see a problem with the spoilers @ the end. Those of us who watched it for the 1st time in theaters got to see it that way. I suppose it just gave us all something to anticipate. 2015 was "the future" to a whole generation and it is a very awkward feeling to reach that and surpass it. I didn't expect any flying cars but seemingly practical contraptions like the Black and Decker Hydrator seemed possible. When the movie came out, a behind-the-scenes feature aired on TV and director Robert Zemeckis said Hoverboards had been around for years but "parents groups" kept them out of production. I took him seriously and wondered if that would change in the near future.

Also, the actor that played Biff, Thomas Wilson, is a pretty cool character as well. Look him up on KZbin when you get the chance. He's got a couple of pretty entertaining songs he likes to sing that are pretty fun to hear. Also, Doc and Biff were reunited later on in a 1990s movie called Camp Nowhere that a lot of us 90s kids, (I was a 90s teenager, but still) remember well. Biff was a cop in that movie, and Doc was a... responsible adult. It was a good time too.

23:49 That's the movie that made Clint Eastwood _very_ famous called "A Fistful of Dollars" (1964) a great western you should do before watching BTTF part III because it plays a role in BTTF. Fistful Of Dollars is also Part One of Eastwood's famous "Man With No Name" trilogy and all are good movies you should do, and Marty would know all these as well. But definitely do Fistful first before going to BTTF part III. And perhaps the last two in Eastwood's trilogy later as I'm sure you'll enjoy those too. Those are called "For A Few Dollars More" (65) and "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" (66). 😎👍

11:20 according to one of the stuntmen, this was the worst stunt he ever performed. The performers were tied in with wires on a quick-release swing line and were dropped from a crane by a stunt coordinator who apparently sucked at physics. First, the performers were supposed to stay 'clumped together' as the came through the window...they didn't...in fact you can see the stuntmen on the left go wide and slam into the pillar and another drop too low and slam into the steps, back first. Then, after coming through the window, they were supposed to fall STRAIGHT DOWN in front of the doors onto crash pads disguised as floor mats but the cable released early and 'chucked' the performers through the window, causing them to land long.....onto bare concrete 😨 They were aaaaaallllllll fucked up 😳

I always thought it was kinda weird, that Doc forbade Marty from using the Sports Almanac for financial gain, but he seemed to have no problem whatsoever with him bringing the hover board back from 2015, and exposing that advanced technology to people in 1955 and 1885. For a man of science, who was always talking about not disrupting the space/time continuum, he sure didn't have a problem letting "primitive" people see future tech. Besides, who's to say Doc wouldn't have reverse engineered it, and claimed anti-gravity technology as his own discovery. He could've gotten just as rich from "inventing" the hover board.

As a kid, I remember the Back to the Future II extras way back in the 80's or early 90's purposely advertised hover boards as new technology and spread schoolyard rumors for a decade lol. That must've been some Spielberg idea since it's perfect promotion for a big hit movie - especially an anticipated sequel to one.
