I fell in love with the Bears on my first couple trips to WDW in the 70s when I was a kid, and still have the well-worn LP. They were my favorite characters, more so than Mickey and friends even, and when my parents let me pick a souvenir at the end of our day, I did not choose a plush or ears or other toy, but the LP of the Bears show. Thank you Tom, for saving these characters!

I love the Country Bear movie only for the fact that the car wash scene was filmed at the car wash next to my grandma's old house, and I think it's just hysterical that there was a real possibility that my grandpa was coming home from work that day and just seeing these giant bears wandering around in there wondering what the hell was going on. Other than that I just love the Country Bears in any of their iterations. I'm afraid of what's to come with this change because at least the characters stayed pretty true to themselves with the Vacation Hoedown and Christmas Special. I don't trust modern Disney not to change them beyond the point of recognition. I didn't even grow up with the Jamboree because I never got to see it at Disneyland - since it closed before my first trip - and my first trip to WDW wasn't until 2022, but as soon as I learned about what it was, I was hooked. In fact, I'm going to make a special trip to Florida in a couple weeks just to see it one last time before the current show is retired. Yes, I am insane. I am an insane Californian who lost my Country Bears before I had a chance to appreciate them, and would gladly chain myself to the Florida version so that they can be preserved. I've always kind of had the hope that they'd find a way to bring it back to California, whether it's in Critter Country or even Grizzly Peak at DCA. I would love to have them here again so much and I need them to always be in Florida.

I was fortunate enough to see all versions of the Country Bears (long form original, short form current, Summer and XMas) so far. I am hopeful for the new line of songs. My brain keeps thinking, due to the poster art we got, that Teddi and Wendell are going to end up singing something like "A Whole New World" or some other major duet, while Trixie being listed with the Bonnets will end up singing "Won't Say I'm In Love" from Hurcules, Trix as Meg and the Bonnets as the Muses. Anyone have theories for what songs they think will be included in the new show? Obviously we know "Bear Necessities". I'd like to hear other thoughts, what you expect, what you'd like.

Thank you for the history. You have is one mainly saw the swim suit version. Glad to understand country bear better. Regarding the tiki room, at least for Disneyland, it's not shown as open and running. The times sign doesn't showtimes. The app doesn't show times. There is no indication. I had to go to Disneyland a couple times a few times before I finally went over there and asked a cat member if it's open, if it works, if it's running. They would have more attendance if they would indicate this is a functioning show now.

Of all the defunct Disney projects I can't believe I've never heard of Mineral King. This is a fascinating sounding project and it makes a lot of sense in comparison to Aulani.

The thing about Max and Melvin swapped places is that they didnt swap places but that cuz all of them plus buff were instead mounted on the left wall instead of the right wall like WDW and Tokyo's, so since melvin was closest to the stage when moving to the left wall the images show makes it look like they swapped spot when really they didnt.

I can remember going to the CBJ at Disneyland from opening year thru closure. FYI the line was always way out in the hall and out into the covered bridge. Reason it was not used as much is beause it was past the Haunted Mansion and the snoring bear in the cave and there was not much else there. At night it was dark and the Hungry Bear always closed early. Even until Galaxy came the quietest place to go was Bear Country/ Critter Country. It was a great area to relax in the evenings befre the push to do the stuff at night.

I was surprised when they got rid of the Bears at Disneyland because in the 70's we always would go to it. We usually did the left side of the park in the morning and would have lunch at the Hungry Bear. It was super chill there with decent food and just the most relaxing views of the river. I miss those days. Then, of course, you go see the Bears. Just the best. It is funny because this episode helped me understand why I loved Disney so much as a kid. - Marc Davis and his attractions.

the area where they built it in Disneyland had hardly *ANY* foot traffic. The addition of Splash Mountain *BREIFLY* boosted attendance for the Bears but that didn't last long. Most days they only had one of the two theaters open,

TSI/Bears 2006 2007 - _Cast Alum_ I think I actually met Tom back in 2006 (your voice is pretty unique - [monotone] when you are giving encyclopedic information particularly regarding Disney Parks history LOL). I was doing the opening spiel right before the show starts, and I misspoke and gave incorrect information, saying _"The Bears were originally planned for Mineral King Resort in Colorado",_ when I should have said _"California."_ LOL After the show he waited around until the theater was near empty and politely came up to me to corrected me. I was so nervous when I was doing my spiel that that I mixed up the state names. That was my first time deviating from the standard spiel and presented my own. (FYI the TSI/Bears cast were encouraged to take the standard spiel and "make it your own unique spiel"). So I was the only cast member that decided to include a bit of history to the guests, especially since KZbin was just taking off, and the only way to find out any parks history was to scan and filter through all the forum/message board sites where people posted scanned copies of information from books, and posted links from small unknown dedicated group sites like Yahoo Groups, as well as amateur blog sites, and fan-made websites through Geocities etc 😅 Mousebits and MartinsVids were my reference guide to all things parks history especially during that time. I'm glad I met you Tom.

The movie is a HUGE part of my subconscious from my childhood. It is very much supposed to be akin to a Blues Brothers sort of thing. It is by no means a “good” movie but Christopher Walken is having a blast, you can tell that the musical talent cast they got cared about the Country Bear show (or are at least paid enough to convincingly act like the show meant something to them). I am a product of late 90s/early 00s Disney cheese and cringe and I will not be ashamed lmao

Yeah... I'm not watching the history of an attraction told by the website who famously spread the biggest lie about it closing then patted themselves on the back for "saving" it from something they made up.
