can't believe I'm explaining this. Going to be explaining to somebody what a VHS tape was or a phone book. Look up the stranger danger program that they launched in the 1980s. Creepy guys with a old Van were the staple mascot. Quite a few of the material would always be some mysterious character with a van trying to lure kids into the van would usually be something like they had a Candy, toys, poppy parents sent you to pick. Parents have them come pick you up, or something along those lines. There were illustrations in pamphlets and comic books, cartoons for schools, you name it quite a bit of the merchandise would feature usually somebody wearing a trench coat, driving a van almost always the van would be a white nondescript van. It's where the free candy stereotype van really Gained traction in pop culture. There were so many cases of kidnappers, serial killers, child molesters and whatnot between the 1950s and 1980s that always seem to fit that generic stereotype of random guy driving a van with no windows. I've heard of guys in places being literally harassed by the cops Endlessly just for driving a white nondescript utility van. There's a guy over in Vegas that does antique auto restoration. Their shop, Van is painted bright red. He claims he paid the band, fire engine red, because he got sick and tired of the van being pulled over almost every day for being a white windowless utility van in Vegas police felt the van looks suspicious.
