Well l was searching U Tube for live aboard stories with Australian content and stumbled on your site. Needless to say I've binged watch every episode over the lasr couple of days. Loved every minute of it. This is something we've dreamed of doing . So we've just sold up everything and are now on the search for a catamaran so we can experience our wonderful coastal areas. Considerably older than you guys, but never too late. Decided to live the dream while we still can. Who knows, may run into you guys out there one day in our adventure. Keep up the great videos.

I spent so much time binge-watching your channel catching up that now having to wait a week for the next video seems like a month. But I sure am glad that you are still providing updated videos of your adventures. Thank you so very much.

@2:00 that coachroof looks so much better than it used too (I know you see it every day, we don't and, no, I don't miss that horrible yellowed carpet that used to be there)
@sailingpopao2 жыл бұрын
🤣🤣🤣 thanks Dave, I am SOOO happy it’s gone!! It was on the list of things to do when we first purchased popao so I was very happy to finally cross that job off the list. It’s mentioned at-least once a week onboard 🤣

@@sailingpopao There are some things you do to your home (on land or water) that you don't think will be a big impact but then years later you still thing every other day, i'm so glad I did that, one for me it was removing all the carpet even in the bedrooms, 20 years later still the best change I ever made to my house. Another was concreting the grass in the front yard, now I have somewhere to park the trailer for my sailboat and don't need to mow so I have more time to sail (priorities)

When parking my cat up I’ll run off one of the hull cleats v using the middle of the boat. Brings you sliiightly off dead into the wind. Makes mooring a little comfier. It also pays to use a smaller line running off the main mooring line.
@sailingpopao2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bubble O Bill, I think I know what you mean but don’t think it would help in wind over tide?

nice thanks for sharing, how many public moorings at Lady Elliot, and is anchoring there sand available
@sailingpopao2 жыл бұрын
There are two and there is a small patch of sand but depends on the wind direction if you can anchor there.

Soooo jealous! The Bunker Group is amazing and we can't wait to get out there again. I was last there in '93 and now feel very old all of a sudden, thanks! Free diving to 20m is bloody impressive! I know you've both been at it for a while, is it a skill that you just developed over time or did you purposely work on your breath hold? Can you suggest any good resources for it?
@sailingpopao2 жыл бұрын
Definitely one of our favourite places! We’ve been diving collectively almost 30 years now so are very comfy in the water. Although 20m is very achievable with the right training. Check out some of Adam Stern’s videos on KZbin. Alternatively a freediving course would be the fastest track to results.

Have you run across a good deal on a Schionning. One that needs a little TLC? By the way, your boat looks so much better after you painted the inside! I really hated that tan/ brown carpet. Watching your channel really makes me push myself to get out on the water again. I miss that life style! One of the things that I'd like to learn how to do is kit surf and I also need to brush up on my fish cooking. You both cook awesome meals and I look forward to that when you post that sort of content.
@sailingpopao2 жыл бұрын
Haha haven’t been looking tbh! Thanks it was definitely worth all the effort removing the carpet! It’s a great lifestyle for sure. Cheers for the feedback re the cooking!

in regard to removing all the carpet, I am thinking of putting my tail between my legs and refitting it to stop all the slapping and gurgling noises. maybe I can find some sound/ heat insulation instead like people put into their tiny home vans. it would be dear but. had to burn the stove for hours this winter up here in cairns,..... unheard of. poor old nofixedaddress, bangs like a dunny door in a cyclone being a cathedral hull, but least its not a cat. so I get to carry a proper load l.o.l.
@sailingpopao2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha earplugs before carpet for us! Do you have a panel you can hide the sound proofing or is it just the hull? Haha yep every boat has its pros and cons, although we probably carry more than we should on Popao 😂
