Man that monster tree fern/agate cast is just too good to be true!!! I'm so glad you went back to the awesome wood/blue agate hill! I love how the geology can change every 100 feet, i always find that interesting... The rounds are so nice, I love the grain so much in them. Just imagine how much wood is 4 inches under the ground on that hill, probably 5x what your seeing on the surface. 🤯
@itslattice41959 ай бұрын
Yeah I couldn't believe it when I dug that fern out. Was not expecting that at all. This spot has definitely surprised me with so much diversity in a relatively small area. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated!

What an awesome jackpot man! Your hidden valley is paying off huge! The giant tree fern is outstanding, and that big red one is a serious score! Thanks for sharing. The hardest thing about rockhounding is leaving some behind, but such is life. Later.

Wow Jay, what an amazing day out in the woods. The Fern cast is simple amazing. I find similar material down here in a location near Lost Creek Lake. I think that a lot of your wood it looks more like oak than sycamore. The radial pattern in sycamore is really wavy while oak is straighter and displays a distinct turkey feather pattern. Always enjoy your videos and hopefully someday we can meet up and do some hounding together.
@itslattice41959 ай бұрын
Yeah that fern was a total surprise. Thought it was a big agate. Glad it's tough. Watching the extraction makes me cringe. Just scrapping my hammer across it. Looking forward to a future hunt too!!

OMG, excellent finds my friend. Just love your vids. I'm only bout 80 miles from Oregon in far Northern California and really tempted to drive up to see what I can see.Thank you for the videos.Bout 20 years ago I was in the Willamette Valley and found a 7-pound red/yellow agate. It is one of my prized in my collection. Thanx again.

We are totally flabbergasted by the amount of beautiful float material you find, and toss aside! We're heading to the area for a couple days this week, are willing to share any low elevation spots to look for small but pretty rocks?
@itslattice41959 ай бұрын
Yeah there is so much. My home is out of room. We have to be picky now. Just about any blm land in Crook County has potential. Crooked River gravel can have many surprises and is easy to access. Just head out of Prineville up the river and anywhere there is gravel in the roadcuts or river bed you could find some goodies. The land around Prineville reservoir has lots of stuff too.

Lots of hiking, Google Earth and BLM/FS maps. Always checking that next hill over goes a long way. An area can be boring and then across the drainage on the adjacent hills it can be phenomenal. I don't let empty patches discourage me or make me think there's nothing to find.

What’s happening brother? Love your content. Just an FYI petrified wood has different regulations. As other rocks. Do not you’re only allowed to collect so much petrified wood a year although it’s awesome content I don’t post. None of the wood I find. Because what I’ve seen them do to people I know that took too much home file a claim, and you can take as much as you want home keep up the hard work and if you’re ever near Boise, let’s hit up graveyard point I’ll show you some awesome stuff
@itslattice41959 ай бұрын
What's up man. Thanks for looking out. I'm aware of the regs. I don't really hunt wood much. This is a winter spot that I'll ignore 9 months of the year because too many rattlesnakes and its really hot. I don't take most of what I show. Only the select, choice pieces. I wonder how the agate casts are regulated. Are they considered wood or agate? Would be interesting to know. Would love to get out to Graveyard at some point!
