Back to the workshop and Annapolis Sailboat show 

Since I was running ahead of schedule to cross the Atlantic, I take a trip back to my workshop. I try out some new tools and make some things to bring back to pickled herring. I visit the Annapolis boat show and dream about a bigger boat one day.

Catamaran is the way to go for live aboard sailing. Say goodbye to heeling and puke inducing wave actions. Say hello to generous accommodations, and expensive slip fees. A few downsides would be most have very exposed rudders, but with all the storage you can carry spares. Also having to deal with two engines.

i would vote you for best sailing channel for sure. Sorry to miss you at the boat show. We went only on Friday. I have never sailed a big cat, only a Hobie. Can you single hand a big cat? Can you heave to a cat? I'm thinking of how you heave to in Pickle when needed

Yeah you can heave-to most boats. I think single handing should also not be a problem for me but I plant sail it mainly with my girlfriend.

You’re going to want to mount your starlink mini on an adjustable mount (mine is on a small camera tripod). The angle it points up is pretty important, and changes often

This will just swing on one axis as it’s mainly the rolling/heeling, not the pitching that’s the problem.

When you showed the galley's in those catamarans they looked like something that would not work well on a rough sea. No gimbals on the stoves.

Yes, but the catamarans don’t heel much like a mono hull so I don’t think its a problem. I think a pot holder would do the trick if it was really rough.

Where is your shop, Sam? Eastern NC? I watch your sailing channel more than any other because I like what you do and your personality. And you pump out a lot of videos. The other two sailing channels I watch regularly are Erik's NBSJS, and the Madison Boatworks channel. I love the young woman on the latter, and their music is the best.

A lot of neat stuff in this one, but about the snakes....I am not sure about the black one, but it might be a cottonmouth. The other one is a copperhead- they lie still like that when they feel threatened. Both are pit vipers...the venom is not really strong, but you should stay away from them for sure.

You should consider going down to some of the hurricane damaged areas and picking up one of those damaged cats. I follow a few youtube channels that have done that or are in the process of doing that. Sometimes they are happy to sell it for insurance, even without it having sunk or much damage. I am sure you could fix some hull damage?

I would consider it but at the moment we will probably not go that route. I think it could be great for someone passionate about fixing things but I’m sure it would turn into a minimum two year project. I think if I worked hard, I could charter the catamaran for a couple seasons to afford it and that sounds more fun to me and ann-elin.

@@samholmessailing yea there are some good schemes for buying and chartering but if you can get a boat loan then use the chartering to pay for it, it can be a lot of work though chartering, as people expect quality food and service like a hotel.
