So Rampage IV Extreme or X79 as a whole was the platform that really made me to start overclocking as my main hobby back in 2012 or so. Before that I only had changed individual parts in my gaming PC, but I was very interested in overclocking and what really affects computer performance so I wanted to go all in and since building my machine around the Rampage IV Extreme we are still on that journey that continues today.
I have been looking for very good 3930K for a very long time, but so far the good ambient chips haven't been good enough on LN2. I found this interesting 3960X by accident when I tested it after received it from one of the local guys here in Finland, Aleksi. I didn't expect it to be super good on cold, but I was surprised when I saw it go up to 5.6 quite easily.
I was able to do the important scores in Windows 7 like Cinebenches and Geekbench 3, and in XP environment everything except WPrime 1024M. Even WPrime 32M took me a lot of attempts, but I managed to do it after all during my second session. Will see if I'm able to take down the last score as well.
All of the scores can be found on HWBOT: hwbot.org/hardware/processor/...
