That tensioner isn't aftermarket, it's OEM M3 solution in europe.

I'm really interested on more information and part numbers, I'm European and a fan of the m50/m52 engine but I mostly do my research on the us bimmerforums because the forums from my country are full of hateful and toxic people that 99% of the time don't even know what they're talking about, so I've never heard of it.

Looks identical to the oil pump chain tensioner on a VAG 1.8T 06A engine too.

That is OEM to VW not BMW :) S54 has a little different oil pump chain tensioner.

Unless that bolt is reverse threaded, you safety wired it in a loosening direction

@@rampage3337 I feel that statement is just personal opinion. For you, maybe that's how it is, and that's fine. Personally for me, this channel is different. Jimmy and the gang make me as a viewer feel more like we are all part of the gang. They aren't putting on a show or faking things. They are genuine to themselves and it shows. OH and we can't ignore the copious amounts of automotive knowledge being displayed, right? This channel is fantastic and highly underappreciated, in my opinion.

Word of advice to all fellow Bimmer enthusiasts. This whole oil pump thing applies not only to the 3 series equipped with M5x engines, but also the 5 series with M5x engines. The e34 and e39 also have oil pump issues on their m5x (inline 6) engines.

You have the safety wire on the oil pump backwards (assuming it is a normal right-hand thread). As it is now, the bolt loosening will give slack to the safety wire. It still shouldn't fall out, but can still come loose and cause play. If you wrap it the other way, so it is pulling clockwise on the bolt, the bolt coming loose will increase tension on the safety wire, making it more secure. -Sorry I just looked and it is Left hand thread.

Do not let injectors sit when running e85 without running a tank of regular pump gas through them to clean them out. My id2000’s locked up this way. Id1700, and 2600’s have corrosion resistant internals though so 🤷🏻‍♂️
