Been saying for a long time that the ultralight backpackers have this dialed. When I’m really minimizing weight for deep DIY backpacking hunts: BRS3000 + Toaks 550ml titanium pot + bic mini + 100g canister of isobutane fuel. Topically good for 4 days of boiling water for my mountain houses and coffee. I’ll take a 230g canister for longer/colder hunts.

Sounds like a great setup! Agreed, the ultralight backpacker and mountaineering community have their stuff dialed.

This is the ultimate in light weight, I even use a toaks 450. It fits everything and my folding spoon.

I'm real glad I picked up the Olicamp on Mindful Review's recommendation. I love that the fuel and my msr stove fit inside, keeping the whole kit nice and compact and organized. Happy to see it perform so well in this test!

If looking for a more permanent lid solution FourDog makes a titanium replacement lid for 18 shipped, so not terribly priced. There's also a universal one on Amazon that's 4.5" that should fit but I haven't tried it. It's currently 13.

I'm a Reactor guy myself. Awesome unit. Sure it's not the lightest option but it is bombproof and works great in the wind. Great to have so many options though.

Reactor is a bombproof setup for sure! Agreed, its nice to be able to fine tune things to the individual!

I hunt tahr and chamois on foot in NZ for 2 weeks at a time. Nothing comes close to the jetboil. I had the SOL Ti until the fins burnt out then replaced the cup with a Zip cup. I boil water for tea, coffee, dehydrated meals and use 1.5 100gm canisters in 2 weeks. I get 10 days out of a 100gm can. Yes there are lighter systems for short trips but fuel efficiency is where you save weight on the longer duration trips.

Great video. Been using the olicamp with the pocket rocket for years. I always thought it was beating my buddies stoves.

Jet Boil Mini Mo and a Toaks 750ml pot. Another great video from the Snyder Lab

Hard to beat an alcohol stove for day hunts where you just want a hot coffee or a hot meal, or possibly a weekend trip. Its been a while since I weighed it but its probably like 2 oz for a stove and fuel to boil a cup of water. Not something I would bring when expecting high winds but Im not going to die if I dont have hot coffee and I can get cover if I need a hot meal. Wish you would have gotten into the fuel consumption. Id also be interested in the fuel consumption at different burn levels. Id assume a smaller pot is going to be more efficient if a stove isnt cranked wide open and ripping up the sides of the pot.

We may have to investigate that in part two of the Stove Review. And make sure we dont burn anything down in the process!

The Evernew/Pocket Rocket hasn’t let me down for years. But I may be switching to the OliCamp. But if anyone said Aron was gonna burn the table, I would’ve watched no matter what! 😂

Now I'm kind of curious, I've always boiled my water at a lower temperature it took longer but I assumed it would use less fuel. I wonder if that's the case or not. Does it save more fuel to have it on full blast high heat?!?!

this is fine.

Between the MSR dragonfly, windburner, and pocket rocket im covered. Im really not even interested in anything else. Im comfortable with everything i have it would have to be a new ground breaking stove to get me to switch.
