😂😂 The amount of eye-rolling! Great subject to cover and nice seeing your pleasant interaction. I found the key with kids is compiling a big mental list of activities to keep them occupied on the trail and in camp. I took my daughter the first time at 3 years old, she enjoyed eating the berries and fishing. The second time was junior year of college as training for a summer archeology dig (that she decided not to attend) and she enjoyed it enough. So I skipped the teen years backpacking with her and my son was the substitute.

Wow! 3 is little! I’m going to be taking my other kids out this summer too at some point (13 and 11), and I’m totally open to suggestions around activities.

@@BACKPACKERish I need to figure that out. She’d rather do views than water. It’ll be somewhere in the George Washington National Forest in Virginia or maybe into West Virginia. I’m not sure of her abilities and I’d like a water source for obvious reasons.

@@CollinLG I was just checking today, thinking about taking one of the kids up there this weekend. Most locations are all booked up, so we may end up random camping somewhere instead. Point will always be a go to though.

I have the benefit of going mid week which helps a lot! For random camping do you use the Ursack?

I recall my first trip with my youngest daughter as a teenager - the biggest learning experience for her was to bring ear plugs so she doesn't hear the noises at night (including my snoring LOL).
