Can't find a real vintage ARP 2500? No worries! Just put this video on in the background (in full-screen mode), and have the next best thing 😁
Here is 10 minutes of self-playing modular synthesiser goodness. Why not put it on loop - then you can have it bubbling away in the background while you do other things
I might do more of these - what do you think?
A note on the patch: two VCOs go into the ModAmp (VC ring mod) which is being switched on and off by one of the sequencers, then into the FiltAmp LPF/VCA which is the main output. The sequencer is set to loop round 9 steps, and provides CV into the 1st VCO pitch. The main out goes into a vintage delay unit (Yamaha D1500) which comes back into the Filter/Resonator creating a feedback loop, and the filter is being varied from row 2 of the sequencer. The sequencer also steps through 7 stages of the Mix Seq, once every 9 steps. This second sequencer has various CVs as its inputs, so it changes slowly over the progression (9 x 7 = 63 steps), and as the CV sources are a very slow LFO and a slow random voltage, these are never quite the same over the cycling motion. The mono output goes into my mixer (Sony DMX-R100 with GA 1073 analogue preamps/eqs), and another slow delay is added (Bel BD-80s) and also reverb (Lexicon Model 300)
Please subscribe and like - it will help me out a lot
Cheers! Benge

Few synths manage to be as visually and sonically powerful as the ARP 2500.

I laid back and closed my eyes. I was driving a delivery van with bad shocks down an unpaved jungle road with half a load of unboxed marimbas and half a load of unboxed super-balls. What a delightful trip. Thank-you!

For years I thought Jerry Goldsmith's score for Logan's Run was a Buchla system of some kind. Only recenly, I found it was one of these badboys. Tonally, this is so similar to Buchla, but also capable of some great East Coast sounds. A versatile and tonally varied instrument. The only VST version of this I can think of is Cherry Audio's. Although that , more or less, gets the sequencing funcionality, it's filters and oscillators are kind of generic VA coding. It would be good if someone like UHE got on the case for emulating this. Until then, I'll just have to dream of getting a large wad of cash and putting this next to my Collosus:)
