I think Edberg's backhand is the best not only for his generation but he is not quite as powerful as say Becker or Wawarinka, but it is a shot he rarely framed, he was in the ready position so well when he launched into that backhand, his sliced best hand is as good as any you will likely to see. He can lob well, dink and angled it well, there is just so much variety that he had with this shots. There is a little wonder that Edberg prefer his own backhand over Federer's, his backhand has as much variety as Federer but the overall technic is better.

Edberg's backhand was better than his forehand. In fact probably the best in his era. Not as powerful as Becker's but more accurate.

Having a better backhand than forehand is pretty rare and often says one has pretty sub-par forehand technique... The forehand is a mechanically superior shot as it uses better human physiology and strength and can be hit real well in all kinds of angles and less than ideal situations... and still work a lot. Backhand, particularly a one hander, is a lot more demanding. Which is why a functional one hander is so impressive, it's a demanding shot, with lots of intrinsic flaws that make it a lot less likely to be a superior shot, so doing it well is an accomplishment on its own...
