Hey Lu , I am going to buy a new laptop , my budget is approx. $700. I basically need it for coding and some media consumption. I need some genuine advice from you. Do you think a Chromebook would be a good option for me or should I go with a Windows Laptop? Hoping to get a reply from you because I am really confused. By the way , I love how your videos are always to the point. You earned a subscriber :)

Thank you! I appreciate your support! As far as a new laptop is concerned. It would depend on what development environment you use. I really love my Chromebook but I still need a Windows machine to do most of my coding because my favorite IDE is the full Visual Studio suite which supports Winforms. Winforms is not supported in Linux. A lot of my projects are based on Winforms but we are starting bto migrate to MVC which is supported in Linux. I am getting used to the dev environments on my Chromebook, so maybe I'll be ready to give up Visual Studio in the future. It also depends what you are creating. If you do web development or console apps then Chromebooks are great. Creating graphic intensive application would be more difficult because the performance you get on the Linux container would not be as good, so I do not recommend a Chromebook for that. Android development is officially supported by Google but I can't really comment on how well that works. You should be able to get a nice chromebook with that budget. If you do decide on a Chromebook then make sure its an i5 with at least 8GB of RAM.

@@lustechsource5197 Thank you for the guidance. I am into Android development , so it seems chromebooks aren't exactly what I should go with atleast at this point of time. Will go with a windows laptop for now , and after some years if Chromebooks become stable enough for proper Android development , will go for one. Anyway , I will keep watching your content because I love that simplicity :)

you have to search and launch a linux app, for (all) the linux app icons to be put back into the linux app folder.
