Those were some of the darkest days in Ghana’s history. What a senseless and ruthless act. I recall countless businesses closing down in my city to escape the mayhems leaving their families behind. Military attacking and arresting civilians in their homes while repeatedly slapping them in their face. I cannot imagine the psychological impact and trauma of the victims families.

The name Rawlings for me means greatness. Plain and simple. These are the kinds of people (leaders) obstructing and undermining Africa to the point we keep crying "our leaders our leaders ". Rawlings showed incredible bravery and purpose to stage a coup. Followed it up with vision and a work ethic to navigate Ghana towards the state it is today. He's kind of unique in Africa, a case study for a military man. By the way, those generals were not executed by Rawlings. Sorry to inform you but it was a popular uprising and the people demanded their heads. Even Afrifa predicted this in a letter to Acheampong.
@giftyford23329 ай бұрын
Rawlings was corrupt more than the people he accused them of being corrupt. He was a murderer. May these people blood stain the life of his children and all of his decendance. The people wanted a change, Rawlings led a coup to bring that change. He's duly credited. The people call for the heads of some "corrupt" officials. Rawlings once again leads that execution. From this I can see that Rawlings was the real criminal....Killed all his opponents and people who could stand his way.Calling even people who had left office through 🗳️ ballots.,on retirement doing farming,someone who had won parliament ary elections!..Yet he had his name written on white sheet...Where is the world heading!...

History that most of the youth aren't aware. The sacrifices that both fallen military personnel and civilians made not by their will. No one should die through execution because of corruption. I nearly got shot as a civilian through no fault of mine. God's Grace was on me, and he spared my life. Young ones, please humble yourselves and feel privileged that you are sitting on shoulders that saddly died during the revolution. You see how every November across Europe and America, those who fell during the world wars are remembered. Let us remember those who fell during the revolution and keep the snide comments out.

His worst corruption was transformed himself from military to civilian president of additional 2 terms of ruling Ghana after years of rulling as military head of state. The killing of his senior generals was more of vadental or revenge. What later happen to himself, he finally died and Ghana is moving on.
