Also the interviewer asking the price…so uncomfortable but Philip rebounded that so well that I don’t think the interviewer even noticed

I was just about to comment about the price thing and then I saw I'd already commented it 6 months ago 😂. Still really appreciate this video though.

Why was he claiming that mother guitar has all original parts when you can clearly see some of the saddles have been replaced? Nothing wrong with it, but it’s clearly not all original. lol
@voxshall Жыл бұрын
That always makes me laugh, I see a lot of people do that all the time (on Norm's guitar of the day etc) it's all original and go on to say it has new frets, new saddles, new pickup selector switch. My 64 Strat has a 63 Jazzmaster neck on it because it sounds and plays so good like that so I definitely don't care about collector grade instruments, but I just find it funny.

@bcummings21876 жыл бұрын
Dont be so sure of that ......this guy is an absolute beast .......plays everyday I'm sure .......and those old Strats ......had very thin finishes.........so SRV took sandpaper to his Strat ? ........I didnt think so......yea this guy is that good.
@bcummings21876 жыл бұрын
He is quite simply the closest thing you will ever see to SRV ......period ......and if you dont think so ......well then you simply do not know.

He has played it off watch his videos over the years it gets increasingly worse. And it’s made in the 60s the finish is super thin
@paulnicosia88043 жыл бұрын
@@xfighter1117 60's strats were painted with a thick white base coat that was as hard as rock. To get it off you had to sand it and that wasn't easy - paint stripper doesn't work. So Fender must have used a hardener of some kind. The purpose was simply to obtain a smooth consistent finish base on which to paint over. It was thick so that they could hide the texture of the wood grain. Production efficiency was all important. I don't agree with Phil that every guitar was painted as a sunburst. Painting a sunburst finish a lot more time takes time. The 60's strats had a 3 colour sunburst. The point of the fender design was that it made them cheap to produce. Every part of the guitar was on separate production line, then they were quickly assembled.

@@paulnicosia8804 All play wear on his strat sorry I have to disagree completely with you.
@marksc19297 жыл бұрын
...such bullshit ... the 60s strat may have been clean ....but there's no way in hell you beat it up that bad by simply playing ....come on Phillip
@DesignInNature7 жыл бұрын
Mark C I know, right? Such BS. It sucks how everyone who buys a really valuable old stratocaster, immediately puts a knife and sand paper to it, in the exact same spot above the middle of the pickguard. You're not fooling anyone. We KNOW people are faking the wear in the guitars to make them look like the SRV, or Rory Gallagher strats. Except when you see videos of Stevie and Rory, you ACTUALLY see evidence that their excessive picking hand motion, was definitely causing the wear in those areas over the years. All these modern guys have really clean and efficient picking motions that stay within the pick guard. Someone like John Mayer would have to play a guitar for 30 years to get anywhere close to what his black stratocaster looked within a couple of years.
@marksc19297 жыл бұрын
DesignInNature ...agreed ....i will say John Mayor admitted to sanding on his a bit to open it up more ...if my memory serves me correctly....I'm not hating on Phillip , he's a good player , although he jst replicates the SRV / Hendrix thing ...which is starting to ware thin ...he jst needs to be more honest ...nothing personal towards him ...

He's a great player! But my 80's strat that I've beat to heck and back, does not have that kind of relicing. Just love the music and not the relicing hype. Peace

you get that wear by playing it, btw. simply by being a working musician for decades, i have an original '64 that looks even more beat up than those!
