At the final threshold, we are faced with one last challenge before we can enter the tree. With the help of one of our earliest allies, we take on the wanna-be usurper in a brutal family reunion before facing off against the gods of a stagnant world. And we promptly get mashed into a pulp by Radagon and the Elden Beast. Well, I had to hit a real roadblock sometime, and now would be the best possible time for it.
A massive hit game from 2022, Elden Ring is the latest of From Software's "soulsbourne" games, mixing the deliberate combat and character customization of the earlier games in their catalogue with an open world exploration that calls back to the era of some of the earliest RPGs. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls, Armored Core 4) with worldbuilding from George R. R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire), Elden Ring has become a near immediate cultural icon of gaming and fantasy.
