U feel a sense of satisfaction once u platinumed a game and complete games in hard mode. However, since i have kids and busy working, i cannot spend my whole free time gaming, i don’t have the leisure time to repeating back levels or boss fights as u will die alot if playing in hard difficulty. Instead i continue gaming but in easy/medium difficulty and do them with my 2 kids together 😊

Don't ever let your childhood die. If it dies, you will lose a piece of you along with. You can game at any age. You decide how you want to enjoy your time and your life. Look at how fast life flew by. Yesterday, you were an 8 year old being all giddy around christmas time to open that present and suddenly, you're sitting in your cubicle, or working the graveyard shift in your 40's or 50's wondering about the good ol' days and the modern day and the future that lies ahead. Go home, fire up that video game system and escape to a different world for an hour or two. Love it!!!

I’m 52 - mobile software engineer with little free time trying to split it between gaming and my other, cycling hobby. I’ve been gaming since the 8bit micros era. In summary, I’d say I noticed the following: - I focus on fewer games which offer an artistic experience, not just great gameplay. Hence, developers like ATLUS is what I’m after these days. - I no longer pay any attention to anyone who considers gaming as something “unusual” for someone of my age. Not caring for such negativity is one of the benefits that comes with age. Great video and channel - greetings from Greece!

I get up much earlier than my wife in the morning, so I hit the gym and then squeeze in about an hour of gaming (or another hobby like reading, sometimes both). We had a pinball machine and a tempest machine at home. Naturally we had an Atari, and later on the Atari 5200. I couldn't help but to be a gamer. I exercise in VR. Beat Saber can burn a thousand calories in an hour! I collect video game consoles and games. I think I'm over 30 consoles now. I love to play retro. I do have a switch and an Xbox and I use them quite frequently. I love Rocket League! I also like games like Need for Speed, Life is Strange series, Mario Golf, and just about everything else. I also think the completionist mindset is just not the way most players should approach games. Sure, if that’s your bag and the way you enjoy games and don’t mind playing fewer titles as a tradeoff then by all means, go for it. But most people aren’t gonna have the time to complete every single game and if they start to expect themselves to, they will quickly tire themselves out and find gaming to become a chore rather than a hobby. It’s important to remember that gaming should be fun and if you’re not having fun, take a break. Your games aren’t going anywhere.

I’m only fairly new to streaming but have been affiliated for 2 years and recently finally hit my 200 follower mark! Gaming is an important part of my life as I use it as an escape, a relaxation thing and a source of community as I play with my friends online. I live in a country town in NSW in Australia and am away from my friends. It’s weird too because being my age with my interests makes me not really a very good friend for people of my same demographic, so most of my friends are younger than me, and live in the city which is 4 hours away. I work full time in addition to streaming so it’s rough to maintain any sort of regularity. I also have a movie review blog, paint miniatures and run a discord… phew! I am lucky because my daughter is in her late 20s so I don’t have any family obligations except for those to my wife, who can fend for herself if need be… and actually usually prefers me not to be under her feet!! Anyway, thanks for the video: I’ve become an immediate fan!

I love to take my time. That is why i rarely play souls games. I play more ESO like games. Dragons Dogma, etc. bit slower games. I love the the fantasy and the graphics and just the fun. Where i really have trouble is with PC games because I'm not great with the keyboard mainly with the left hand, so I play on PS5.

I am 9 years older than you and I only play one game - Starcraft 2. I have no variety but I am ok with that. Sometimes a player will ask how old are you and my answer "more than 2x your age" and they won't believe me :) . However I want to go back to my arcade games from yesteryears like Street Fighter. Maybe try the latest one - just have to get a good fight stick and a PC.

I’m glad I found your video . I’m a home owner, father of 3 , married, full time worker and I still find the time to play even the most difficult games like Elden ring . It’s hard to keep up but I still find the time to play . I also play online games with my kids 😎. I’m 42 BTW !

Making time for games: I heard/read somewhere that it’s common in Japan to play dragon quest for an hour or two before bed. I got dq11s for switch and played it in that way. Over 100 hours later I finished it. Then I realized I did have time for long games, and platinumed P5r on ps4 (using a guide)

I’m 50 and I still game a lot. I’m married with a wife that’s understanding and no kids, that helps! Though I don’t have the quick reflexes like I did in my younger years I have a lot more discipline. I recently got platinum trophies in EldenRing, Sekiro, Bloodbourne, Lies of P, and Stellar Blade. Something I could never do when I was younger, if I got stuck back then I’d would move on to the next game.

I have been lucky enough to share this gaming passion with my daughter and we have tackled some games together. Obviously time is limited at this age but will usually play a story driven game that's our main game and another arcade or driving game as a lighter game that isn't as time consuming.

I turn 45 next month. I’m very comfortable with the concept of “I won’t try everything” and that’s ok. I know what kind of games I really love and just take my time and slowly digest my JRPGs an hour at a time after everyone has gone to bed

Interesting video and as an old gamer (with kids) I think a lot stays the same but there is a lot that changes. For example I have started to care less and less about difficulty. I still enjoy reading about these hardcore strategies and crazy things people do, but I don't have the energy or time to spend hours against difficult things. So I usually just play games on normal or easy and relax. As for genre I still enjoy JRPGs but I try to find turn based games (even if I enjoy some very good action games from time to time like the Nier series). Another thing that change is also that you start to value time instead of money. So if you have the choice to grind for hours or spend 5 dollars you just go for the later (when playing for example service games).
@drewtheunspoken39883 ай бұрын
I always play at the easiest setting and largely play for narrative rather than "mastering" the game. Time is limited and I'd rather experience a variety of games than spend all my free time chasing meaningless trophies.
@PVS-20243 ай бұрын
I'm totally in the boat with you. The longest I've played in the last few years was going back through the Gears of War series with a friend who never played them. We'd be at a mission or two a day (about 2 hours of play) and we marathoned the first 3, skipping 4 for some reason and beating 5 and hivebusters. It really took me back to college but it was those short doses of non stop action rather than the 20 hours of walking/running and following a waypoint marker across a varied and vast (but ultimately empty or recycled) map that most modern games have.
@PVS-20243 ай бұрын
@@acrane3496 nobody is advocating for anything, just expressing that our idea of a good time isn't bashing our heads against a task repeatedly. You can have all the fun you want "getting gud" at a game, but I don't want to spend a Friday night repeatedly playing one small part of a game on loop to "grind away" or master the dodgy hit/hurt boxes of screen filling bosses. It boils down to what the player wants. I like to have a power fantasy that games can deliver, you can enjoy the masochistic challenge of whatever you play. It's all good!
@Maloooon3 ай бұрын
@@acrane3496 I believe in choices and having multiple difficulties (either by selector or in-game items/characters). Completing the game in an easier mode doesn't take away anything from your accomplishment if you decide to play on a higher difficulty. And while I enjoy easier modes, I still prefer to play by myself. The thing is, in easier modes, you can usually play with any character or skills, which makes it a bit more flexible to do what you want.
@drewtheunspoken39883 ай бұрын
@acrane3496 I don't advocate for that at all. SoulsBornes are built around their difficulty, and I understand that that's the appeal of those games. So, no, I don't think they should have an "easy" difficulty. I would also argue that Final Fantasy doesn't need a "Souls-level" difficulty but it's not a hill I would die or even fight on. At the end of the day, there is a huge variety of games and I think it's great that everyone has something they can play, regardless of time and skill limitations.

I'm 43 and have beaten all Souls games. Now I know why my old reflexes are good enough. They're really just strategic turn based games. I have 3 young kids, and my biggest issue is sharing. I recently joked that we need a second PS5, because my 4 year old has played more Rebirth than I have, but I just can't say no when he asks, "can I play, dad." My other issue is there are way too many games. I'm retired, so I have time, but the cadence of games is overwhelming. It's a good problem to have.

WOW, we're the same age. Had to subscribe for that reason too haha. We even started our KZbin channels around the same time. I started with Atari. And gosh, from the Atari it was hard to imagine games being how they are now and us being this age of A.I. too. LOL Gaming burnout only occurs when you're play a game that's not fun. If the game is fun, then there'd be no burnout 🤣. I learned this when playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma on Xbox 360, God of War, or old school games like Streets of Rage, TMNT the ORIGNAL arcade game (not the NES version) or Turtles in Time. I could still play those games for hours and still have tons of fun!
