It took me entirely too long to realize that even if you sent Mint out on expedition with insufficient supplies, she'll still bring back ingredients. Not as many as she could, naturally, but when you need to brew better mana potions and health potions to let Mint clear the desert area, sending her halfway through it will still get you ingredients to MAKE those potions.

Best tip I can give is to pay attention to the active potion bonuses (most days should have an event that raises prices for certain potion categories). If you manage to land a double bonus - either two random daily events that overlap, or a daily event plus Luna's marketing boost (unlocked later in the game) you want to stop everything you're doing and focus entirely on producing the highest level of that potion that you can and sell them off before the day's over. Take advantage of it and you'll be swimming in cash soon enough.

Something they need to patch is the way you upgrade the cauldrons, you have remove them from the customize option, then go upgrade them, then put them back in the store. It's not something game breaking, but it becomes tedious over time. Why not just give you the option to upgrade the Cauldrons you don't have brewing?

nice video! I would've added to send Mint out regardless of whether she can finish a run. Sometimes better to send her out with no potions at all because potions are valuable too, but keep her working so she keeps bringing you ingredients. Also, when brewing, use the maximum even number of ingredients you can, every 2 ingredients gets one more potion in the brew, so you want to maximize how many potions that way. I know this vid is over a year old but still good info!

Hello and nice starter guide, If I may offer a few other tips, on competition day you do nothing but the competition, thats 8 extra time slots you don't need to waste fuel on whatever is brewing overnight that day, also if Vendi is unlocked make sure she is full before the competition so you can still make money on your day off.

On the demo release I actually can enjoy the game, I can enjoy the story progressing and so on. But when the game was released I felt like I was overwhelmed by the amount of features the game has. It uses my whole brain to keep thinking about buying things on Baptispe (I'm sorry if I misspelled the guy name incorrectly) and then gave it to Quinn so it can become available for me on the next day and etc. I keep thinking about how I spend my money so I won't lose so much. For me the game is too hard. Boii the art style is pretty good and the jokes are enough but the gameplay keeps draining my brain. 😂 That's my opinion about this game, pretty good but it's definitely too hard for me. I'm still going to finish the game tho.

I broke the game on my first playthrough by completely ignoring spending time or ranking up the characters (with the exception of Baptiste who had the rank up always enabled, maybe it was a bug). I would only shop on Quinn when she had discounts or when I started getting too much money. Always get the best cauldron and as many cauldrons as possible, best store shelf and these will pay off almost immediately. I finished the game with 4 cauldrons and only 2 shelves Brew the best potions you can all the time. As the game progresses the random stress generator gives you more stress cards even when you're just at 10% so do not get ANY stress at all. Use cards that can give you quick returns on potions without even pressing the end turn button. This way more time spent brewing rather than idling Once you get the item duplicating slimes, dump your best items in them, and only use the items that have a ton of magimin. I was only using a fungus with 344 magimin to really dupe as many items as possible. Was getting 8x items on all 5 slimes every 2-3 turns which makes this the most efficient way of getting items From days 30 to 40 and 40 to 50 I had already brewed the required potions with 5 days to spare

Reviews (besides the one from this channel) are already out and it's looking good! The only outlet on metacritic that gave a lower score (60%) was from "the Guardian" because they didn't like one aspect which felt unnecessarily harsh. This just looks so charming I bought it right away to support the developer. Don't forget that you can always refund the game within 2 hours on steam if you end up not liking it so there really isn't any risk in trying it out.

Oh THAT'S how elemental tonics work... I was really confused starting out as to why the fire tonic was so utterly awful, because I read it like "blocks fire damage a single time" as if it was basically a fire-aspected health potion, and wondering why the value was so small compared to a normal health potion. They really need to change the wording on that to make that a bit more clear...

@@photo2983 You're probably gonna wanna speedrun getting a larger cauldron. Larger cauldron -> more ingredients -> more magimins -> more "stars" -> more money -> easier victory. Also getting a shelf and upgrading it also helps quite a bit in the long run, even if it means flooding the market with fire tonics for the entire first week.

Is it better to brew common and basic potions to sell? I finally got my footing but the Golem's Eye Gem is barely returning the cash I spent for the 7 eyes. And that is with a potion stand and better quality brews in the window, I barely make 200 profit after good haggles. I feel like I was better off selling basic and lower potions made with cheap, low-quality ingredients. These were quick and thus made a lot of commissions land on my lap. Am I mistaken?

I usually match what I make with whatever is trending that’s selling a lot more. Also, make sure that you sell the right potions on the right shelves and to spend the time to upgrade them after competitions, in addition to investing in new spaces. That said, buying ingredients that are super expensive can be a trap, especially if they’ve got a magimin spread that’s all over the place. I typically just focus on ingredients that have only one magimin that has points and try to mix and match with that. I also look for sales and avoid buying ingredients when there’s a price increase. With a three cauldron setup for example, I usually make two of the competition potions to try and make it or to sell. It is always advisable to try and make the best quality, or else you’ll be wasting time and money. Quality and price go hand in hand, after all. Then for the last cauldron I either make health or mana depending on my stock to use for my adventurers.

I'm not certain exactly, but I think overnight, two cauldrons brew for two time units. (I think I tested this once, it might've been 3, but I think it's 2 and I've been treating it as 2 ever since). The other big thing is that if you return home with 0 time left, you don't get to fiddle with cauldrons, even though this costs "zero time" otherwise. Your day immediately ends, do not bottle potions, do not refill cauldrons, do not pass Go, do not collect $200. So if you have 4 time on the cauldron, with two time segments left in the day, then when you open shop, two time segments pass, and your day immediately ends afterward (with no chance to refill any empty cauldrons), and in the morning, 2 more time units have passed, and the cauldrons have brewed for exactly 4 time. The auto-end mechanic is a little weird, and mostly it affects cycling cauldrons. So if you start a selling phase with 3 time, you can have 1 time left over to refill the cauldrons, use fuel to get their timers down to 3, and then go shopping for more ingredients with the 1 time left over. When you return home, you immediately go to sleep, so having 1-time brew on the cauldron doesn't help you any. But if the timer was exactly three, you have potions in the morning, and you can start a new batch. Since going to town already eats one time, it's occasionally a good idea to do all a bunch of relationship/card/coupon events all in one trip, so you only pay the flat 1 once, and you can do up to 5 such events. It's probably not worth doing this until at least Chapter 2, though, since there is too much foundation you have to set up in Chapter 1 before the extra synergies have a solid base to play off of. TL;DR: End of day actions: To brew overnight and go shopping: Requires exactly 1 time left in day. Put the brew timer on 3. To brew overnight and sell potions one last time: Requires exactly 2 time left in day. Put the brew timer on 4. To brew overnight and socialize all day: Requires full day left (six time units). Put the brew timer on 8 (or just don't add fuel if it starts lower than this), then go to town and socialize all day. (Can be adjusted down to a fewer number of social errands, but the efficiency improves if you can dedicate a whole day) When not ending the day yet: To brew quickly during a focused shopping trip: Requires 2+ time left. Put brew timer on 1, go shopping, do not hang out or level up relationships. To brew while selling potions: Requires 3+ time left. Put brew timer on 2, open shop.

If you are confused on who to max out, and I mean MAX, then Quinn, Mint, and the pirates are all good choices, xid and multilevel give good cards earlier, and xid and muktuk cards are the key to breaking this game open for infinite money.

ok so I have run through the first 10 days multiple times now playing this game obsessively over the last 2 days since I got it. I send mint out at the first available opportunity, check what's his face leader of the heroes guild daily looking for those better potion ingredients but I just never get them. I get +4 ingredients a whole hell of a lot and typically never see anything better than the +8 with negative traits the entire first 10 days. twice I have gotten +12 or +18 or even +24 ingredients on day 9. I am sending mint into the boneyard usually and have only gotten +blue ingredients 1 game so far. I have tried re-loading from day 5 like said in your video, not sure if its this one or the 5 more tips one and tried restarting from day 1. I have lost to Roxxanne over a dozen times but the best potion I can get is a common 1 star. By the time I hit day 7 I am often just not opening my shop at all and sending mint out twice a day desperately trying to get new ingredients but alas it seems she isn't looting much. Again I was only able to make an antidote 1 run through out of more than a dozen. I am stuck, is there a way to improve loot other than just making sure she can clear the expedition?

So if it's red it's bad and if it's green it's good. Any bad traits will lower your cost by 5% while any good traits will increase it by 5%. Doesn't matter what kind of good or bad trait it is! Also, it stacks, so if you have 2 good traits and 1 bad trait, you only get a 5% increase because the good and bad cancel each other out! Does this make sense now? 😉

As charming as the game is, and as much as I enjoy the selling gameplay especially, the absolute time limits feel so arbitrary and unnecessarily stressful it's actually putting me off the game a little. Having to guess that the main mechanic is sending out the adventurer and then making the ingredients available for purchase, coupled with what feels like a super restrictive daily time limit... It borders on oldschool Sierra-like design principles, with saving past a fail state being a very likely possibility. It's kind of weird to see in a modern game. The demo made this seem like a much more chill experience.

I totally get that. People at PAX actually told the devs to remove the limits if they ever rereleased the demo to the public, so that might’ve given the wrong impression about the game. That said, I’m a bit used to these limits thanks to Persona and it’s ilk. I never really saw item shop games as ones that I can chill with, but I certainly see your perspective as someone who’s a fan of chill games myself

I honestly don’t know as I finished the game before the day one patch and the devs have been adding things since, but I will tell you that my subsequent playthroughs have been easier thanks to my first time experience. The tournament requirements were made less trivial for me since I knew what to do the second time around.
