Flextail zero is like 1.8 ounces. Saves 2 ounces and I like the cr123. Fits steripen, my fenix headlamp and charges nicely from bat pack and have the option for non rechargeable for backups. Your channel is legit. You clearly have been there and done that.

ThKs Brian, most of us out here don’t have money to blow and it is nice to know what works best and outing. Just so you, I’m not able to do one of these hunts packing in but I have a son-in-law who loves to hunt. I look for useful and good solid equipment for him. So I build these list from those who knows what works and not biased. Some of this equipment I want but a lot of it is for him or my friends who are able to use this equipment. Good to know and thanks again! God bless and keep on keeping on. Hope to meet ya one day brother.

Great list! Killer tips on multi use of trekking poles and the Flextail! The ONLY item I would challenge you on is the MTN OPS Battleground hoodie. I love it but found it doesn’t do well as a top layer if you are wearing a pack. The parts that contact the backpack shoulder straps - chest, shoulder, or back - showed wear for me after only a couple hikes. Otherwise, it’s a solid piece of gear.👍🏾

Great content as always! You may have done so in the past, but Id love to see you do a video showing how you pack your gear into and on your pack. This is a lot more gear than ive used in the past, but im only doing sept archery hunts. And it already feels heavy! Be interesting to see how you assemble and organize everything. Sorry Brian! I see now you mention doing a separate video on that toward the end of the video.

I've been using the Flextail for public land duck hunting to blow up my inflatable boat for 2 seasons now, and it's been awesome. I used to hike in a giant pump and this thing pumps up the 3 chambers in nearly the same amount of time. When I first opened it, I was actually concerned it wouldn't be able to do it because of the size, but it handles it like a champ. Nice to see other guys using it for hunting purposes as well. I bet hunters is a segment they never thought of for their products.

Do you shoot off the tricer?
@GrittyGearAndPodcast9 ай бұрын
That's a question for Ryan and Brad. Generally, we get prone whenever possible and don't shoot off of tripods. However, in places like Kodiak a tripod is brilliant. I see no reason why the Tricer wouldn't do a great job as a shooting platform.

what would you recommed, the stone glacier puffy or the kuiu? I believe in one of your videos you said the grummen is the same weight as the ultra, but the same amount of insulation as the super down.
@GrittyGearAndPodcast9 ай бұрын
I greatly prefer the KUIU Super Down to the SG Gummen. I like the matt finish of the KUIU, the cut, and the exterior material, which is less prone to getting snagged and getting holes in it. And the KUIU Super Down just feels warmer too. But all that said, you can't go wrong with either jacket.

@GrittyGearAndPodcast9 ай бұрын
Hey Brad, I haven't used the KUIU in a couple of years. I'll try the KUIU later this year and see how it compares. I'm still shocked by how good the MTN OPS Battlerground merino is. I've used First Lite, Sitka, and countless other brands of merino base layers and that OPS merino stacks up better. But my KUIU merino is old. I'll try a new one and see how it holds up.

Curious if you have tried a quilt such as Katabatic? Cut about 10oz for equivalent in a sleeping bag.
@GrittyGearAndPodcast9 ай бұрын
Brad here. I have been using the Enlightened Equipment quilt for years. I have been super happy with the performance of it and the ability to stay warm in temps below zero, yet also open it up during the hot summer months. There are some great things coming down the pipeline that are far superior to my quilt. I love that thing and the weight to performance ratio, but our new sleep system is again far superior.

Yes, the last Ultralight Steripen we bought for my dad didn't work. We ordered a replacement and the replacement didn't work. We ordered a 3rd UL Steripen and it works like a champ. Kuiu over SG puffy?
@GrittyGearAndPodcast9 ай бұрын
Yes. The KUIU puffy is superior to the SG. But the SG pack is superior to the KUIU in my opinion. The KUIU puffy gear is not as reflective, warmer with similar loft, and the exterior is more durable--especially the pant. Each company has their specialty and KUIU makes the superior puffy clothing.
