You are an excellent presenter. Clear, concise, helpful, and free of ums and uhs and other crutch phrases. It’s nice to see a fellow hiker articulate so well. Great job. I hope you keep making backpacking videos and your channel continues to grow. I would have zero hesitation recommending you as a backpacking coach to any woman I know who’s interested in getting started. 👍 I won’t hold your love of coconut curry against you. 😂

Pro tip #2 is vital absolutely vital. I did a short 3 day section hike my first and focused all my energy on training physically for hike. Day before hike hit the store and focused on calorie per ounce and had multiples of same thing. Like grabbed a 10 pack of bars as well they were light and this was easier. Such a bad mistake. By day 2 I hated to stop. I hated to eat. Food was the same. It was bland. Not what I wanted. Now Ill pack heavier food and a variety of food so each day is differnt or atleast every other day the majority is different. As for the blue gatorade I had some great value raspberry lemon aide packets that i loved and its a motivator. Id get to a point where it was say 4 miles to camp and I was not motivated. Well Id say go 20 minutes and you get lemon aide. Believe me it helps. Use what you need or love to get you through the trek

100% agree with this! I’m always willing to carry a little more weight in my pack if it means I have meals and snacks I’m looking forward to eating while I’m out there.

How long does a fuel canister last?
@TheHungryHiker
@TheHungryHiker 2 ай бұрын
It depends on many things like the elevation you're hiking at, the temperatures you're hiking in, the stove you're using (how efficient your stove is, how long it takes to boil water, etc) and the size of fuel canister you're using.

This video is very interesting ,however that is a very large amount of processed food you are eating. dehydrating your own food is a good idea and saves heaps of money.
@TheHungryHiker
@TheHungryHiker 6 ай бұрын
I agree with you - dehydrating backpacking food is a great idea. I was able to dehydrate and even freeze dry a lot of home cooked meals before my PCT hike this year and then have them sent to me while out on trail. However, not everyone has access to a dehydrator or freeze dryer, whether they're at home and especially when they're in the middle of a long-distance backpacking trip like a thru-hike. In these situations, a hiker's only option if they haven't sent themself a resupply box is to resupply in town at a grocery store, general store or convincing store.- whatever option is available for the town they're in.
