3:50 those foam pads can also help reduce the amount of surfing you do if you're not camped on a perfectly flat spot. They provide some grab for the pad on slick tent floors. I still use a hammock, but I carry one of those pads on most trips. They are super easy to whip out to sit more comfortably when stopping for breaks, they can also be used as ground cover under my hammock so my gear isn't just lying on the ground, or if I need extra insulation, I can slip it between the layers on my hammock. Versatile and lite. 6:00 Those cube ditty bags are the best. Ultralite Sacks (based in Arkansas) makes some. Theirs don't have that handle on the top though. That's a nice feature. I'm surprised you pack your headlamp inside your pack. I keep mine in my fanny pack (or hip belt pockets before I converted). Unless there is zero chance you'll need a lite before you get to camp, it's an item I don't want to have to dig for when light is fading. Good stuff, Rob.
