Three days backpacking Grandfather Mountain, NC. Ladders, cables, scrambling, a plane crash and a very real risk of death, this hike had it all. A memorable one to say the least.

My partner and I just did hike up to MacRae peak (and a bit beyond) to celebrate my 33rd bday. It was both thrilling and beautiful! Even as an experienced hiker, there were a few moments where I questioned just what the heck I had gotten myself into, ha! It was so worth it though. We’re currently working an edit of our trip and hopefully will get it up on my channel within a week or so.

Hey did you guys stay inside state park? (Make reservations)?? And do you have like a description of the entire trip, starting points, trails taken, mileage?

Hey Joey. We camped inside of the park and had reservations at two sites. We parked in the Boone Fork Parking Area located on the Blue Ridge Parkway. From there we hiked on the Tanawha and Nuwati Trail trail to the Hermitage Campsite. Second day we hiked Nuwati, Cragway and Daniel Boone Trail Scout trail to the Briar Patch campsite. We then continued on the Daniel Boone Trail to the Grandfather Trail to the Underwood Trail and looped back on the Grandfather Trail to head back to camp. The next morning we hiked back to our starting point at the Boone Fork parking lot. I don't have a list of of the mileage but video does have mileage notated throughout. Hope this helps.

Thanks! We stayed at the Hermitage and Briar Patch sites. At the time fires were allowed at each site.
