Backpacked, bike packed, FR 102 several times since I was a kid. Mostly to trout fish, but I’m retired now and would like to get more into backpacking! Thanks for sharing your trip. Take care.

I was in Marlinton for 6 months back in the late 1980's working. I had forgotten all about that. I hiked in Cranberry 2 or 3 times a week. Also backpacked there 2 or 3 times and drug the family down there in the camping trailer to fish. Thanks for jarring my old brain and bringing back those memories.

Great video and photos! One of my favorite places on the planet. By the way, if you had gone just a few hundred feet or so the other direction on the road (FSR 76, not 102) you would have seen the Tumbling Rock Run shelter. Of course it could have been occupied. I'm glad the trails are not well maintained, otherwise it might be overrun by hikers like Dolly Sods. I've never met another hiker on or around the North-South Trail. Of course, I'm always going off trail anyway. lol. Crazy how much stuff was left in that shelter. Never seen anything like it. Very unsafe...I've seen a lot of bears out there. I need to try that Juice Force. LOL

I really appreciate you watching the video! Your comments are great. Cranberry Wilderness is unique. Unique is an over used word, but not for the Cranberry.

My friends and I do call Big Beechy trail Big Bitchy. We went up it from Middle Fork and had to carry water all the way. I hated the blow downs on Beechy. My short legs had a difficult time going over blow downs. I do love the Cranberry area. Spent our last 2 trips in the Tea Creek area; almost have all of the trails there explored. Thanks much for sharing your trip!

Always good to hear from you Pat. It was a really good trip and I am heading to Tea Creek camp ground next month for some car camping, day hikes and mtn biking.

@@michaelbroyer3918 I really like the Tea Creek area. It is a nice place to sit on a rock in the creek and read for while. Also a nice mix of steep trails and gentle trails.
