Camping in the mountains, Norway

We pack large backpacks with tents, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, cooking equipment, and everything needed for an overnight stay in the mountains, and drive from Oslo to Rjukan. From the train station, we first climb 600 vertical meters steeply up towards Selstali and then continue on the west side of Gaustatoppen towards Hovdenuten where we set up the tent. The next day, we hike up to the Gaustatoppen tourist cabin and relax with waffles and cola before heading back down, breaking camp, and returning to Rjukan train station where the car is parked.
The trip is a total of about 22 km and 1700 vertical meters.
