Another instant classic. Your breakdown of material and items was very insightful. The right layers are extremely important, especially as the weather changes when backpacking.

Thank you ! I really hope to encourage people to look deep into were the materials are coming from, company eco efforts, it’s super fun do do a deep dive and understand a little more about what you are wearing. Can’t wait to continue to test all this gear out this winter! Thanks for checking out this vid, Vaucluse team:)

Nice job Zac. I like the poncho idea. I would be curious to see how it does if the wind really picks up while raining or snowing. I carry a Columbia rain shell but above a pound it’s a bit heavy for something that’s rarely used. I think the sun hoodie damn near goes on every trip with me as well.

Thanks Chad! That’s certainly going to be one of the big issues you’d have here, persistent wind and side rain might make me regret the poncho… Like of course it does have the snaps all the way down so it’s secure, but those snaps are spaced out and there’s a lot of open material of the wind gets ornery! Columbia makes some clean looking gear! We shall see how this goes. If anything it will just be a bizarre sight on a snowy trail ha
