Dave Devon did you use any touring companies to go for the 4 day trek to Milford? or did you do it on your own and brought your own supplies etc?

mermaid000pranu I used UltimateHikes not cheap but well worth it . Book it up well in advanced , like six months , it gets booked out real fast I walked it mid November, snow on the peeks and and more waterfalls than you could count :-) or you could do it independently , carry all your food, basic lodge , beds first come first serve basis , no dry room . Hope that helps , anything else just asks .Also some nice walks around Nelson Lakes , and coast hike Golden Bay , watch out for the sand flys .

+Alenadestiny hey we saw many hitchhikers in New Zealand! And we hitchhiked ourselves. So probably like everywhere, when you take care nothing will happen. But we made great experience, many New Zealanders made even detours for us. Cheers

+matsterness i didn't do any couch surfing or hitch hiking, but I'm sure they are more than possible! distances between towns are pretty long so i guess that helps in terms of... people are probably heading in the same direction :) Honestly though, i wouldn't want to wrongly inform you so I'm not the best person to ask x

best to get a bus down to Christchurch (money wise) if you have the time but if you have the money then fly down to queens town and then book a day outing to Milford sounds :)

yes whenever and wherever! well kind of, you have to complete the route within a year and you can only do the route once round! but you can stay in each place for as long as you like :)

Hey Mollie, Really helpful video! I feel a bit confused about the bus pass though. So if you buy a certain pass, and just say you do the trip and get to 1 certain place and decide you want to stay there for a week, are you okay to do that and just get on another bus a week later to finish your route? Do you need to book onto a different bus etc.? I hope this makes sense! Thank youu xxx

+Katy O'Brien Yes of course you are making sense! You can stop off and stay in places whenever you wish. So long as you complete the whole trip within a year! Buses pass through every day so you can just jump on another one and continue your route :D
