This is episode 3 of the Grand Scandinavian Hiking & Backpacking Tour 2021. In this episode I go from the remote eastern part of Femundsmarka National Park and into the remote western part of Rogen Naturreservat/Nature Reserve in Sweden, where I sit out a storm on top of the amazing Skjebrofjellet in Rogen NR. From there I head back into Norway to Nedre Muggsjøen/Lower Mosquito Lake, name says it all! Stunning days spent in Norway and Sweden with as close to the midnight sun as you can get right below the arctic circle. Not a single person in sight anywhere, only angry birds!

So beautiful. As I've commented on the last video, I will be in Femundsmarka next week. I plan to hike from Elgå to Langen, so I will pass by Nedre Muggsjøen as well. It's good to see the wading part over the Mugga doesn't seem to be all that difficult, but I suspect the water will be a lot colder when I get there. :D

Mugga is not difficult, but it is slippery so wear shoes while crossing, might be more water now, or less, i dont know lol

Jarl, I can't tell you how inspiring your journies are. There is little chance I will ever get to see the Swedish backcountry. I live many thousands of miles away here in Oregon. Very cool, Jarl! Mosquito Lake is the perfect name for that campsite location. Seems very “buggie” on this trail. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Doesn’t seem like a lot of wildlife though, sure would love to see more. Thanks for taking us along!
@NorwegianXplorer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Susan, quite a lot of bugs indeed, but didnt see much wildlife on this middle part of the trip, it was very warm. I did have moose just outside my tent at night by Mosquito lake, but wasnt able to get my camera out for that.

Amazing brother!! I was surprised to see so much land with lakes and without trees. But thats what made it special in its own way. I sense the people of Scandinavia are more trusting than here in the states. The cabins were so cool! Would you consider sharing some details about your drinking water, meals, catch any fish? more more more, lol. Thanks Jarl!
@NorwegianXplorer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Butch, I might share some more info about the gear at some point, been getting a lot of requests for that. Yes the Norwegians are indeed a very trusting people, they still mess up the nature though like everywhere else sadly, cutting down trees for firewood etc

Hey Jarl, I have accidentally found your channel and I am a happy man.Your content is fantastic, true as a hiker, no fuss, no pointless crap Made in China gear review that will definitely end up in a landfill, no 4x4 mounting the grass while, “hiking/camping”, pure bliss, nature at its best and for that a big, “Thank you”, for your time and the effort you’ve put in. Who needs Netflix, ehh? Do you mind me asking what navigation tools do you use on your hikes and, what topo maps would you recommend for hiking in Norway and where to purchase them from? I use Alltrails Pro and upload all maps on my Garmin 66i yet I find a topo map will give more detailed information about any terrain than any other electronic devices. Kind regards, Florin Sirbu
