One of the things that makes Idaho gorgeous is the number of STUNNING mountain ranges in the state. The Sawtooth's are the most well known, and for good reason. The sawtooth's have a huge number of alpine and subalpine lakes, which makes the region beautiful. However, almost everyone goes on the Alice Lake loop, which leaves the vast majority of the sawtooth mountains untouched. In addition, there are several, absolutely stunning ranges in the state, where you can hike for a week and see no more than a few people, because those ranges are so unknown.

I have to tell you, we backpacked to Twin Lakes when we were stationed there and you'll get a kick out of this: First backpacking trip EVER and we were young and stupid, decided to backpack on Friday, so Saturday we packed what food we had in the fridge, pd of bacon, 6 eggs, bunch of potatoes and I don't even remember what else, but to keep it cold we froze a gallon of water and used that!! OMG!! I think my husband took most of the weight and I was a total WUSS! Had a switch back and he ended up taking his pack up and coming back to get mine! At one point I sat down in the trail and he hiked on to see how much further it was (the total hike I think was 3 miles--haha!) and he came back to tell me it was just around the bend and I couldn't get up off the ground with my pack on! Just like a turtle on it's back! Anyway, made him fix ALL the food we brought up so we didn't have to pack it out. What a trip!! We still laugh about it today! Beautiful country and I appreciated it so much more on the way back!! : )

This might be my favourite video of yours to date. 🥰🥰 Fast paced, tonnes of stuff going on, in a gorgeous setting, and whilst it's not what 'made' the video, the low key set up of it all made it even more impressive. No drone shots or a gimbal use, yet the story was told beautifully. Sawtooth mountains are now firmly on my list of places to eventually visit. Crazy to think last summer we stopped off at Idaho Falls for a mid morning coffee break between Yellowstone and Capitol Reef and we were so close. But when pushed for time we had to pick and choose our stops! (Plus y'know... I didn't know about them till you guys have educated me about them!) Do you both hope to grow the channel to a point where you can travel more/do less of the work that's currently bringing in a stable income, so you don't have to make similar choices? #VeryPersonalQuestion #IgnoreMeIfImBeingTooNosey!
@AdventuresofAplusK4 жыл бұрын
This made us smile real big! After two vlogs with some pretty cool drone shots, we were kind of bummed to not get to use it (and to have to try to get steady shots by hand...pretty hard lol)! Vlogging backpacking trips is always kind of tricky, but we wanted to bring everyone along anyways! That’s definitely the goal! Not going to lie, juggling a full time job and Adventures of A+K is really, really overwhelming, but we absolutely love doing the vlogs and blog and will do what it takes right now. The dream would be to spend more time in these spots, film more, and also have days to not film and just relax and edit vlogs + write blogs. But for now, we have to pick and choose where to go with the limited time we have for “fun” and prioritize a lot. We are SO thankful to be able to do what we can do now though!

We always get nervous about that too! It was just off the trail and down a short path closer to the water and pretty obviously used many times. Black bears are common in the Sawtooths but have such a skittish temperament that you rarely have to worry about them. Grizzlies are only present in the very Northern reaches of Idaho. Bring bear mace and don't let the very low possibility of a wild encounter keep you from experiencing the best Idaho has to offer. Plus, I would be more concerned about Moose than anything.

Thank you!!! We keep meaning to look for the comet but haven’t had a super clear night. I think we will be somewhere dark during the meteor shower so we will have to stay up for it!

Adventures of A plus K you can see meteors shortly after sunset away from city lights.

Hey! Did you guys have to get a permit for this hike? I'll be out there in a few weeks and would love to do it
@AdventuresofAplusK3 жыл бұрын
Just the permit you can fill out at the trailhead 😄 We have a guide on our site with everything you need to know for this hike: adventuresofaplusk.com/backpacking-alice-lake-idahos-sawtooth-mountains/

Awesome, thanks so much!

@@AdventuresofAplusK Yep, compare that to the hassle of trying to get a permit for the Enchatments. As beautiful as the Enchantments are the Sawtooths are above and beyond gorgeous. And far less people.

Cool video and beautiful spot. However, those watching should take note that it is never a good idea to eat inside of your tent in bear country.
@AdventuresofAplusK4 жыл бұрын
Valid point. We do have a bear canister for all of our trash and fragrant items, which is something we failed to show and is also important in bear country (doesn’t change that we ate in our tent, but wanted to mention for those watching).

Do you have any firearm against intruders like bear or god forbid do you have to worry about any civilians interfering? It might sound weird question but reasonable. Isn’t dangerous to be a couple out in the wilderness?
@AdventuresofAplusK6 ай бұрын
No we don’t have a firearm
