Matt and I decided to brave the conditions and do an overnight at Cooper Canyon Trail camp in the Angeles National Forest. There was some good times and good food on this trip. We even honed up on our bushcraft skills.

Have you ever taken the Burkhart Trail. It is not too far away from the area, and I believe you can link to it on trail from Cooper Canyon Trail Camp. You can hike between Buckhorn Campground and Devil's Punchbowl. It is challenging and unbelievable scenic. The stretch at and under Buckhorn is adorn with some of the lushest and tallest pines, firs, Incense-Cedars, and even huge White Alders in The San Gabriels. You can access Burkhart Saddle and hike to Will Thrall Peak, Pallett Mtn, and scores of other peaks along Pleasant View Ridge.

Thanks man! On short hikes like that, it's worth it bringing the extra weight of some good food out there. Sometimes I eat better out on the trail, then at home. lol That camp is very relaxing in the back part.

I’ve run into bee swarms on the trail to Spruce Grove. Back then they were predicting killer bee attacks which never really happened. I used to worry about being attacked by them in the wild,

Great video Jason and awesome campsite. Food looked delish. Also I just watched Never Hike Alone...the fan made Friday the 13th filmed at the old boyscout campground you randomly found in one of last videos. I'm a huge 13th fan and would never have heard of that movie without watching your video of you exploring the area. Thx for all you do brother....happy trails

I hear ya'. I've been taking notes of the areas you're hiking and fishing. We're kind of land locked down in San Diego. We go east and hit desert! Any plans to do a review on your Cedar Ridge quilt? That's my next purchase. Looking forward to the tarp and bivy review.

Noob question, how do you keep the eggs, sausage, etc cold at your campsite?
@HuckOutdoors
@HuckOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy. The temps weren't too bad on this trip, but I usually carry my food for an overnight trip in a soft sided freezer container like this: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01145L2JM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Sometimes I will put a frozen bottle of water in there that helps keep everything cold for the day. Eggs can stay out of the fridge for about a week after being in the fridge, so these eggs were pulled out the night before. The sausage I had on this trip was already precooked as well;
