LOL "Do you have change for 200000?" : )))) You got the point from the scam in part one. It seems like the citizens are lazy with giving change back to you if you don't prepare smaller unit cash.

I've just watched all your Vietnam eps and they're fab! This one was my favourite though. It really captured the stress that trying to navigate around a new city can bring. I laughed out loud a good few times. Having backpacked extensively myself I could relate to a lot of this. Myself and my partner are going to Vietnam in a few months time and this series was great. You guys seem like a lovely couple and it was a joy to watch. Hope you continue to have amazing adventures! :)
@becausewecamp8 жыл бұрын
+Romana Abercromby Wow thank you for watching and leaving this comment! Yea traveling can be stressful as you well know, but it's all about keeping a good attitude in the end. After all, there are a lot of people out there who don't have the means to take extended trips like this. So how long will you be in Vietnam? And where else have you traveled? Anyway, thanks again for watching and let us know how your trip goes! Noah-
@romanaabercromby73918 жыл бұрын
+Because We Camp You're totally right. Unfortunately this is just a short trip (just under 3 weeks) but we've got a rough plan sorted. In the past I've backpacked Thailand, Cambodia, Australia and a bit of India. Love an adventure! We are going to attempt a vlog when we are in Vietnam (although I'm sure it will be no where near as good as yours!). Can I ask did you feel save using the go pro? Was there anywhere where you had to be super careful with it? And were most people fine about you filming them?!
@becausewecamp8 жыл бұрын
+Romana Abercromby That's awesome! I'm sure you'll be able to see a lot in three weeks. India and Australia are definitely on our list. We did Cambodia for like a week right after our Vietnam trip but never put the videos together... Yea vlogging is a great way to create souvenirs for yourself to look back on long after the trip has ended. I think I would have forgotten half of the stuff we did had we not taken the time to create all these videos. Regarding the gopro, I never felt like I was in danger of it being stolen or anything, although some locals did warn us about it being possibly snatched from our hands in HCMC. But the truth of the matter is that GoPros are so cheap relative to some other camera setups that if it did get lost/stolen or destroyed it's not that big of a deal (aside from maybe losing the footage). When it comes to filming people, I usually try to respect the rule that if someone is out in public, they are fair game to be filmed. After all, the thing that makes travel videos interesting (in my opinion at least) are people. Having said that, I definitely don't try to be intrusive, and I will often ask politely if I want to get a more candid shot. In general though, if you have a good attitude and are gracious, most people (especially in Asia it seems) won't have an issue. Hopefully this is helpful. Let us know when you have your videos up :) Noah-

+Because We Camp That's great Noah. Really appreciate all that advice. And you guys should definitely do America and India. They're amazing places! One last question.....re the gopro did you just use a pole to capture most of your footage? We're new to gopros and just wondering if we need any other accessories?

Oh, the motor-driver broke the traffic rules. In my country, the law states a maximum of two people per motorbike. If more than two, definitely violating the traffic law. In addition, all people sitting on a motorbike are required to wear a helmet at all times. So lucky that you all didn't encounter traffic police. =))

Except those scams, i hope you guys meet nice people to help you pay the right prices for anything in VN. This is such a big problem to our tourism industry ( even to locals) . I used to help some foreigners to buy " banh mi" with 5000vnd ( the seller said it cost 30000/each) The management of our government is suck . However, VietNamese people are kind and hospitable. there are many other things that you can really enjoy in VN. Be safe and have fun.

Hey thanks so much. This was a trip from a couple of years ago, and I'm happy to report that aside from some initial shock in Hanoi, we had an excellent time! love the vlogs guys. Wish ye did a Thailand series like this too. I've watched the others. I leave for SEA in, actually ill arrive in Bangkok this day 2 months :) What did the taxi driver give ye back at the end?
@becausewecamp10 жыл бұрын
Adrian F Thanks so much for watching, commenting and sharing! We wish we had a Thailand series as well. We spent a lot of time in the country, and did manage to take lots of video that's currently unreleased. Unfortunately, it's pretty crappy so I think it makes more sense to just go back to Thailand and shoot new video haha. We also have a backlog of videos from Cambodia that were shot around the same time as this project that we'll get to eventually. The motorcycle taxi dude gave us like 5000VND if I remember correctly. Pretty much not worth anything, but the gesture was really nice! Enjoy Bangkok! It's our favorite city in the world!
@MrFlav1810 жыл бұрын
Because We Camp So are you going still travelling? i'm still on the Vietnam Playlist. I'm solotravelling for 4 months in Jan as I said. Thailand, Laos, Nam and Cambodia. I have a facebook group for Redditors who are travelling around the same time (it's where I found your channel. I shared it on that page, we have like 200 members in the group so hopefully it gets you some views. Your editing is awesome. I have Sony Vegas Pro but I'm a total noob. Would love to do the same when I travel
@becausewecamp10 жыл бұрын
Adrian F Yea we're still going. We went home for a month in Oct, but now we're currently in Mexico working on some video projects. We're here until Dec 29th. We were going to continue traveling around Mexico and S. America, but the draw of Asia is too strong so we're probably just going to return to Thailand for a bit before visiting some other countries that we missed on the first go round. Thanks so much for sharing our videos in your Facebook group! I was wondering where the burst of subscribers and views came from today hehe. It's taking us quite a while to build an audience so this helps for sure. Would it be possible for us to join the group as well? It's always good to have connections with other travelers as you well know. Also, thanks for the compliment on the editing. It definitely took a while so we're glad someone noticed! I don't know much about Sony Vegas, but fundamentals of editing are the same regardless. I'm sure you'll make some great videos :)
@MrFlav1810 жыл бұрын
Because We Camp I'm thinking of doing South America next year but as you said the draw of Asia could be too strong haha. I think who ever posted it on Reddit too is to thank. r/Travel would have a lot of people looking each day. You should start posting your vids on there and also on r/Solotravel. (are you familiar with Reddit?) It's like trying to learn a new language for me at the minute, and I think unless you've tried your hand at it, it's hard for people to appreciate it as much. We're so used of TV, documentaries and what not, but Kudos, it's great. Yeah sure, sorry I should have linked it in the last comment. facebook.com/groups/539994089462016/ Feel free to post all your new or past stuff :)
@becausewecamp10 жыл бұрын
Haha yea, I think starting our travels in Asia pretty much ruined us on most other parts of the world for the time being, Asia is just too interesting. Lol I think Lynn posted the series originally to reddit a while back. We definitely plan on putting more stuff on r/Travel when we get a couple more videos done. Thanks so much for the invitation to the group. And you're right, editing well is pretty difficult, but also very rewarding :)

I always refused to get into a cab that didn't have a meter working, and ALWAYS Maylin the green cabs. Edit, it also seems you got ripped off on your train ticket, a ticket to HCMC should only cost 30 bucks most.
@becausewecamp10 жыл бұрын
Hey chuck thanks for watching! Yea we never get in a taxi either if they refuse to use the meter, OR, if they don't have a meter for some reason, we make sure to negotiate a flat rate ahead of time. Totally agree about the Maylin taxis.. we discovered those when we arrived in Hue and they were super nice. Also, curious when you went to HCMC via train. Was it from Hanoi? We used seat61.com to do a good bit of research before buying our tickets to Hue from Hanoi. and the price we paid is still commensurate with what is listed on that site so I don't feel like we got ripped off there. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

70000 - 100000 is such a minimal difference, especially for a cab fare. Cars are extremely expensive in Vietnam, paying the extra, what, dollar at most? Is that worth your time?
